FULL VIDEO LEADING TO ICE SHOOTING AND AFTERMATH
MINNEAPOLIS Newly reviewed video of the fatal ICE shooting of Nicole Good raises serious questions about federal claims that officers faced an imminent threat The footage shows the agent who fired the deadly shots running alongside the vehicle not in front of it as Good attempted to flee
Good who was not a Minnesota resident was killed during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation Wednesday in Minneapolis Authorities have not explained why she was in the city at the time of the encounter
Bystander video reviewed frame by frame shows an armed ICE agent moving parallel to the drivers side of Good's vehicle as it begins to move forward The agent fires from the side The footage shows no point where the agent is directly in the path of the vehicle
Federal officials initially said the agent fired because the vehicle posed a danger to officers The video directly contradicts that claim Experts say the agent’s position alongside the vehicle shows that Good was not threatening officers when the shots were fired
A former federal prosecutor familiar with use of force standards said Deadly force is legally justified only when there is an immediate threat to life A fleeing vehicle moving past an officer does not meet that threshold
ICE statements have repeatedly emphasized officer safety and imminent danger Yet the video shows no officers in the path of the vehicle and no attempt by Good to strike anyone The federal account of the shooting conflicts with multiple eyewitnesses captured on video who can be heard saying the car was leaving the scene
No officers were injured Good was not armed Yet ICE has refused to explain why deadly force was used from the side or to release body camera footage dispatch recordings or the name of the agent involved
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called the video deeply disturbing and demanded transparency and accountability from federal agents operating in the city Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called for an independent investigation saying state officials were initially denied access to evidence
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Securitys Office of Inspector General are investigating Legal experts say the agents positioning relative to the vehicle will be central to determining whether the use of deadly force violated federal policy or Supreme Court precedent including Tennessee v Garner and Graham v Connor which restrict lethal force against fleeing individuals
As protests continue Good's family has demanded the release of all video and investigative materials saying the footage already released undermines the federal governments justification
She was trying to get away a family member said She wasnt trying to hurt anyone
The investigation remains ongoing
