Students holding replica guns suspended after Facebook post

Two high school students in Taunton, Massachusetts  have been suspended after they posted a photo of themselves holding Airsoft rifles. Thousands of people have leaped to their defense online, but their school isn’t backing down.

The Airsoft rifles look dangerous, but they shoot plastic pellets. Tito Velez, 15, often competes with a team as a hobby.

Last Friday, Tito and his girlfriend Jamie Pereira posed with the Airsoft rifles before the Bristol Plymouth Regional Technical School homecoming dance. The post got them suspended from school.

“This isn’t dangerous, you can’t kill someone with it,” Tito said Tuesday. “We didn’t shoot anyone; we were pointing them at the floor.”

Jamie said. “Suspending us for 10 days and possible expulsion is way too much.”

Should One Be A Supreme Court Judge With No Judicial Experience?

Shouldn't one have judicial experience before running for the highest court in the land?  In this case it is the Michigan Supreme Court?

Richard Bernstein
Screen Cap From The Law Offices Of Sam Bernstien
Richard Bernstein, who is an amazing man and brilliant attorney is running for Michigan Supreme Court.  The problem is  Richard has never had any experience as a judge.

Richard is the son of famed Michigan attorney Sam Bernstein of the Sam Bernstein Law firm.  The Sam Bernstein law firm is one of the largest firms in Michigan.

Because he has no prior experience as a judge, Richard is running campaign advertisements that include him running a marathon as blind man.  I am not sure what running a marathon has to do with being a judge, but I do praise Richard for his courage in over coming his disability.

One should never be promoted just because of a disability alone, it should be based on merit and experience.

Another elephant in the room is if Richard does become a Supreme Court Justice, will he and how often will he have to excuse himself  from the bench should cases from his Father's firm reach the high court?

I truly hope that Richard remains with his Father's law firm as an attorney.  He is brilliant and would hire him in heartbeat for myself.

Should Richard Bernstein become a judge to the Supreme Court?  Perhaps one day, but not without first having judicial experience as a judge in a lower court.

Man Who Is Not The Father Forced To Pay Child Support Or Go To Jail

Should Carnell Alexander be forced to pay the state of Michigan the $30,000 it claims he owes the state in welfare benefits paid to the mother of the child who put Alexander's name on the welfare
Carnell Alexander
application?

From WXYZ ABC Detroit :"A bizarre child support case in Michigan is demanding a Detroit man pay thousands of dollars or go to prison - even though everyone agrees the kid is not his.

"I feel like I'm standing in front of a brick wall with nowhere to go," said Carnell Alexander.

Alexander is forever haunted by the big news he got in 1991 during a traffic stop in Detroit.

"You're a deadbeat dad", the cop said. "You're a wanted man. You're coming with me."

"I knew I didn't have a child, so I was kind of blown back," Alexander said.

Alexander was arrested for failing to pay $60,000 in child support.

The state said he fathered a child in 1978 and had ignored a court order to pay up.

Alexander told the court it was the first he had heard of it.

"They told me it was too late to get a DNA test," Alexander said.

But he did anyway and the test proved he was not the dad. Still, a judge was unmoved.

"She told me that regardless of what the DNA says - because I didn't contact her 24 years ago, it's going to stick. Case closed. I got to pay for the baby," he said.

Records show Alexander ignored a court order of the paternity case in the late 1980s.

WXYZ TV ABC7 in Detroit pieced that chain of events together.

The state sent a process server to Alexander's dad's house. The process server was supposed to deliver to Alexander the summons. The process server then signed the summons saying that Alexander was delivered it, but refused to sign it.

"I wasn't there so I couldn't refuse to sign," Alexander said.

Records show Alexander had been arrested as a teenager and was locked up when the process server came to the house.

"I had no knowledge that I had a child support case pending against me," he said.

But there was a case because someone had put Alexander's name on an application for welfare benefits, an ex who was in a jam when her baby was born.

"I had to turn to welfare to get assistance to take care of them and had to put him down as the father. That was the only way I could get assistance," said Alexander's ex, who doesn't want to be identified. "Everything is my fault that I put him through."

"We know this is not my child so let's do what we need to do. What's right," Alexander said.

A few months ago a judge erased the debt that Alexander owed that mom of the kid that's not his, but not the debt owed to the state, $30,000 for welfare benefits paid over the years. He says he's going to keep fighting until all of the debt is erased."

Michigan NewsPaper Conglomerate Refuses To Post Conservative Editorial To A Controversial Bill

MLIVE.com is a conglomerate of numerous newspapers throughout Michigan.  The media news corp has denied a counterpoint of view in their newspaper.

MLIVE has news staffers such as Ken Braun that have been promoting homosexuality and the Elliot-Larsen Act however when Paul Mitchell, Chairman of The Faith & Freedom Coalition of Michigan wrote an editorial countering the expansion of Elliot-Larson, he was turned down. by the editorial director Jen Eyer.  The following was the editorial by Paul Mitchell:

By Paul Mitchell, Chairman, Faith & Freedom Coalition of Michigan
In 1976, the 'Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act' was signed into law in Michigan. In short, the law prohibits discrimination in employment and a variety of other economic transactions because of religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, familial status or marital status. Whether it be to hire or fire someone, deprive someone of employment opportunity after being hired, classify or reclassify the individual when it comes to promotions and demotions or extend benefits and retirement; the 'Elloitt Larsen Civil Rights Act' was established to define protections for workers based on potential discrimination.
Recently, there has been a push from some within the legislature and some major corporations to expand the 'Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act' to include lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender individuals within its definition of protections. However, many oppose this. And, there's a reason why...
The expansion of the Ellott Larsen Civil Rights Act to include sexual orientation opens the proverbial 'Pandora's box' and puts Michigan's small and family businesses at substantial risk.
This is not about acceptance or even rights for that matter. Federal law (which supercedes state law) already bans discrimination of transgender people and 'non-conforming people.' Make no mistake. This is about trial lawyers and litigation. This is about workplace policy and the potential exploitation of it. This is about major corporations with a team of lawyers being able to withstand the storm while 'Mom and Pop' small business owners risk losing everything trying to defend themselves against the mere claim of discrimination. The moment this expansion passes, tens of thousands of Michigan small business owners will placed directly in the crosshairs of anyone wishing to game the system or claim discrimination. And those crosshairs do not stop at simply employment related claims. In fact, should this expansion pass the legislature and be signed into law, they should call it what it really is: 'The Full Employment Act for Labor Lawyers.'
Discrimination laws, and enforcement, have been based upon establishing protected classes defined by very clear characteristics. The problem with establishing the LBGT community as a protected class is it would establish a protected class that is not clear and readily definable. It's not as if someone walks around with a sign around their neck indicating their sexual preference.
In most employment situations, one's sexual preference is never discussed or disclosed – as it should be. However, once hired, the proposed expansion can do fatal damage to small business owners. Since sexual orientation is not clear, any disgruntled employee could use it as a weapon ONLY by making the claim. No evidence, trial or finding of fact. The mere accusation can lead to a formal regulatory process leading to litigation. If you're a business owner and want to fight a claim you believe to be false, CourtStatistics.org estimates fighting that claim through a full trial would be a median cost of $88,000. This is why few claims ever make it to trial – there is too a great of a cost. In fact, a study conducted by the American Bar Foundation found that from 1987 through 2003, only 6 percent of these cases ever go to trial.
We, as citizens, decry the massive increase in healthcare costs but few realize the impact of the cost of malpractice insurance which doctors must pay as a preventative measure from frivolous lawsuits. Have we not learned our lesson? If successful, this effort will cost everyone financially, and will cost jobs in Michigan.

Jen Eyer of MLive.com 's response was

Randall Thompson, who is the Executive Director of Faith & Freedom Coalition of Michigan went sent out the following message, asking all to call Jen Eyer and post the editorial:

Dan Gilbert Takes Shot At Gov Rick Snyder For Telsa Motors Sales Ban

Dan Gilbert
Detroit billionaire Dan Gilbert the other took a shot at Gov. Rick Snyder for signing a bill that ensures Silicon Valley automaker Tesla Motors can't sell cars directly to consumers in Michigan.

As the main stream media only reports part of the story, it should be noted that every State Senator and every State Representative from both the Republican and Democrat parties, with the exception of Tom McMillin, voted for the direct sales ban.

Gilbert, who has stated in the past that  he's a fan of Snyder, brought the issue up while guest-hosting CNBC's "Squawk Box" and interviewing Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

Gilbert said Snyder's move "sends a bad message" about the influence of lobbyists in lawmaking.

"To me you have to have a philosophy and you have to stick to it and you can't let your personal circumstances compromise that," he said.

He also criticized the powerful auto dealer lobby for battling Tesla, which wants to sell cars through "stores" instead of franchises.

"Why don't you man up and compete like everybody else does?" Gilbert said.

Adam Jonas, auto analyst with Morgan Stanley, agreed with Gilbert.

"As Tesla grows in significance and expands its sales network, we expect more debate at the Federal level on the double standard in the application of dealer franchise laws," Jonas wrote in a note to clients. "It's only a matter of time before something gives. We expect that in the next two to three years, this could likely mushroom into a national issue. We believe these laws exist to support the weakest link in the network."

But Sandy Baruah, president of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce, supported the governor's action.

"The Chamber believes that the Detroit region, as the epicenter of the global automotive industry and the leader in next generation mobility, should have a business environment where all participants play by a common set of rules," Baruah said. "The Chamber supports the rationale Gov. Snyder utilized for signing this legislation and looks forward to the continued discussion the governor calls for."

Crowds walk out as Obama walks on stage and speaks, Facebook tries to hide story

The awe that President Obama once enjoyed at political rallies has vanished into thin air, as a crowd of spectators
Obama with Maryland Lt Gov Anthony Brown
walked out on the president during a speech for Democrats Sunday in Maryland.

During an appearance for Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, who is running for governor of Maryland, “early departures of crowd members while he spoke underscored his continuing unpopularity,” reported Reuters.

“A steady stream of people walked out of the auditorium while he spoke,” the wire service noted, “and a heckler interrupted his remarks.”

“You’ve got to vote,” Obama repeated numerous times at the rally in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, not far from the nation’s capital.

“There are no excuses. The future is up to us,” Obama said. “Go find your friends to vote. Get your cousin to vote. Get your uncle to vote.”

This Yahoo News story was so unpopular that Facebook is trying to prevent it's users from reading the article by marking the Yahoo link as spam.

Ministers In Coeur D,Alene, Idaho Told By Gov't Marry Gays Or Go To Jail

First it was the lesbian Mayor of Houston, Texas demanding
sermons from local preachers that preached against homosexuality, no we have another case in Idaho.

Two Christian ministers who own an Idaho wedding chapel were told they had to either perform same-sex weddings or face jail time and up to $1,000 in daily fines, according to a lawsuit filed Friday in federal court.

Alliance Defending Freedom is representing Donald and Evelyn Knapp, two ordained ministers who own the Hitching Post Wedding Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

The wedding chapel is registered as a “religious corporation” limited to performing “one-man-one-woman marriages as defined by the Holy Bible.”

City officials told Donald Knapp that he and his wife Evelyn, both ordained ministers who run Hitching Post Wedding Chapel, are required to perform such ceremonies or face months in jail and/or thousands of dollars in fines. The city claims its “non-discrimination” ordinance requires the Knapps to perform same-sex wedding ceremonies now that the courts have overridden Idaho’s voter-approved constitutional amendment that affirmed marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

That ordinance, passed in 2013, prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation and it applies to housing, employment and public accommodation.  This was not a problem until last week when gay marriage became legal in Idaho.

“The government should not force ordained ministers to act contrary to their faith under threat of jail time and criminal fines,” said ADF Senior Legal Counsel Jeremy Tedesco. “Many have denied that pastors would ever be forced to perform ceremonies that are completely at odds with their faith, but that’s what is happening here – and it’s happened this quickly. The city is on seriously flawed legal ground, and our lawsuit intends to ensure that this couple’s freedom to adhere to their own faith as pastors is protected just as the First Amendment intended.”

Former Lawmaker Rocky Raczkowski Working To Stop Hospitals From Overcharging

A former Michigan lawmaker who served in the Michigan
House of Representatives from 1997 to 2003, is leading a petition drive to limit how much hospitals can charge uninsured and underinsured patients and those injured in car accidents.

Republican Rocky Raczkowski will be asking the state elections board on Monday to approve his "Stop Overcharging" petition. If he collects 285,000 signatures, the initiated bill goes to the Legislature.

It lawmakers reject it, the legislation would get a statewide vote.

Rocky says his proposal would prohibit hospitals from charging patients more than 150 percent of the lowest amount they accept as payment in full from any payer. He calls the current charging scheme "discriminatory" and says prices are "out of control."

Previous efforts to stop hospitals from charging auto insurers more for care than they bill health insurers have stalled in the Legislature.

City Of Houston Subpoena's Pastors Sermons, States They Can Not Speak Out Against Homosexuality

Is America dead?  The constitution appears to be?  In Houston, Texas, pastor's sermon's are being subpoenaed.

The pastors face being fined and or imprisoned for speaking God's word as stated in the Bible when it comes to homosexuality.   The City of Houston, Texas considers this a violation of their equal rights ordinance.

Houston's embattled equal rights ordinance took another legal turn this week when it surfaced that city attorneys, in an unusual step, subpoenaed sermons given by local pastors who oppose the law and are tied to the conservative Christian activists who have sued the city.  This was done by order of Houston Mayor, Annise D. Parker, who has publically confirmed she is a lesbian.

Opponents of the equal rights ordinance are hoping to force a repeal referendum when they get their day in court in January, claiming City Attorney David Feldman wrongly determined they had not gathered enough valid signatures to qualify for the ballot.

City attorneys issued subpoenas last month as part of the case's discovery phase, seeking, among other communications, "all speeches, presentations, or sermons related to HERO (Houston Equal Rights Ordinance), the Petition, Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality, or gender identity prepared by, delivered by, revised by, or approved by you or in your possession."

The subpoenas were issued to pastors and religious leaders who have been vocal in opposing the ordinance: Dave Welch, Hernan Castano, Magda Hermida, Khanh Huynh and Steve Riggle. The Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian legal organization known for its role in defending same-sex marriage bans, filed a motion Monday on behalf of the pastors seeking to quash the subpoenas, and in a press announcement called it a "witch hunt."

Wouldn't discrimination of Christian Faith as protected under the first amendment supersede any illegal (unconstitutional) ordinance?  When will people speak up?!

Democrat Party Ad Lies About CDC Cuts. Republicans Appropriated More for the CDC This Year Than Obama Requested

The Democrat Party , in total desperation is blasting the airwaves with a new false narrative commercial which states “because the GOP won’t let the Democrats spend more money, people are getting Ebola”.  Nothing could be farther from the truth.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced advertisements claiming House Republicans cut funding for Ebola research while "protecting tax breaks for special interests." But there's only one problem, as the National Review's Jim Geraghty observed. In January, the GOP-controlled House passed a bill that gave the CDC a whopping 8.2 percent budget increase for fiscal year 2014.

This influx of cash will raise the CDC budget to $6.9 billion, which is $567 million more than it received in 2013. This is more than the agency anticipated, because the president’s fiscal year 2014 budget request for it was just $6.6 billion — a decrease of $270 million from fiscal 2012.

Yes, you read that right. Republicans in the House of Representatives voted to give the CDC more money that President Obama requested. And what did the CDC intend to do with all that money. Cure Ebola?

The CDC listed some of its top spending priorities in its fiscal 2014 budget request. It wants to boost spending for vaccines for children by $287 million and increase funds by $53 million for its “World Trade Center Health Program.” It requested a $40 million increase for AMD, $22 million more for Health Statistics, $20 million more for its National Violent Death Reporting System, almost $17 million more for Food Safety and an additional $15 million for polio eradication.

NBC Chief Medical Correspondent Violates Ebola Quarantine Rule And Risks Spreading It To American Citizens For A Dinner

Does NBC's Nancy Snyderman think she is better than everyone else and health safety rules don't apply to her?

NBC's Dr. Nancy Snyderman violated her 21-day Ebola quarantine by making a secret run to a New Jersey restaurant

Several people say they spotted Snyderman last week in the back seat of her Mercedes outside the Peasant Grill near Princeton University.   New Jersey officials have investigated and determined Snyderman was indeed in the car, and someone from the NBC crew -- also under quarantine -- went inside the restaurant to pick up food.

A third member of her crew -- also under quarantine -- stayed inside the car with Snyderman, who was wearing shades and had her hair in a ponytail.

The lapse on the part of Snyderman and her crew was enough for the New Jersey Health Dept. to turn the voluntary 21-day quarantine into a mandatory order.

NBC News finally broke its silence on Dr. Nancy Snyderman’s quarantine violation today on its evening newscast — but only to read a prepared statement from its chief medical correspondent, who appears to be unclear as to the whole “quarantine” thing.

At the tail end of the newscast’s lead segment about the nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital stricken with Ebola after coming into contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, anchor Brian Williams noted “our chief medical editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman has been in the news herself these past few days.” Saying “we” spoke to Snyderman earlier today, Williams then read a prepared statement from her. “While under voluntary quarantine guidelines which called for our team to avoid public contact for 21 days, members of our group violated those guidelines and understand that our quarantine is now mandatory until 21 days have passed,” Snyderman said —  forgetting to mention that she’s the one sighted by Princeton locals double-parked outside a local eatery late last week.

“We remain healthy and our temperatures are normal,” Snyderman continued in her statement, explaining that “as a health professional I know that we have no symptoms and pose no risk to the public,” but not explaining what prompted her to violate the voluntary quarantine agreement with health officials to make a take-out food run. She did, however,  say she is “deeply sorry for the concerns this episode caused.”

Other networks, however, had a field day today with Nancy Snyderman and Her Mandatory Quarantine story — a state of involuntary stay-at-homedness to which she’s been sent by the New Jersey Department of Health.

CNN’s media navel lint gazer Brian Stelter noted that, even though every member of Snyderman’s crew is asymptomatic, the quarantine busting “goes to her credibility as the chief medical correspondent at the network.” CNN’s legal analyst Paul Callan observed that Snyderman faces 60 days in the slammer if she violates this mandatory quarantine.

School Told to Call Kids ‘Purple Penguins’ Because ‘Boys and Girls’ Is Not Inclusive to Transgender

A Nebraska school district has instructed its teachers to stop referring to students by “gendered expressions” such as
“boys and girls,” and use “gender inclusive” ones such as “purple penguins” instead.

“Don’t use phrases such as ‘boys and girls,’ ‘you guys,’ ‘ladies and gentlemen,’ and similarly gendered expressions to get kids’ attention,” instructs a training document given to middle-school teachers at the Lincoln Public Schools.

“Create classroom names and then ask all of the ‘purple penguins’ to meet on the rug,” it advises.

The document also warns against asking students to “line up as boys or girls,” and suggests asking them to line up by whether they prefer “skateboards or bikes/milk or juice/dogs or cats/summer or winter/talking or listening.”

“Always ask yourself . . . ‘Will this configuration create a gendered space?’” the document says.

The instructions were part of a list called “12 steps on the way to gender inclusiveness” developed by Gender Spectrum, an organization that “provides education, training and support to help create a gender sensitive and inclusive environment for children of all ages.”

Other items on the list include asking all students about their preferred pronouns and decorating the classroom with “all genders welcome” door hangers.

If teachers still find it “necessary” to mention that genders exist at all, the document states, they must list them as “boy, girl, both or neither.”

5-year-old Told to Sign 'Suicide Contract,' at School After Shooting Fellow Student With A Crayon

An Alabama mother is furious that her 5-year-old daughter was forced to sign a school contract stating she wouldn't kill herself or anyone else at school.

School officials told Rebecca, who did not want to give her last name, they had to send 5-year-old Elizabeth home after an incident in class.

"They told me she drew something that resembled a gun. According to them she pointed a crayon at another student and said 'pew pew'," Rebecca explained.

Rebecca says her daughter was then given a questionnaire to evaluate her for suicidal thoughts and given a Mobile County Public School safety contract to sign stating she wouldn't kill herself or others.

"While I was in the lobby waiting, they had my 5-year-old sign a contract about suicide and homicide," Rebecca says. "There should be a different way to handle this situation. If this is protocol it needs to be looked at again."

Rebecca is pushing to have the incident removed from her child's record. She says school officials have requested her child see a psychiatrist. She refused.

Government Demands Disabled Girl’s Backyard Playset Be Destroyed

The city government of Santa Fe Springs in California is
demanding that the backyard playset of a little girl with special needs be destroyed. The Miranda family says that the swings were a gift from the Make-A-Wish foundation, given to her because her seizure disorder makes it impossible for Tiffany to play in a public park.

The little girl’s mom Jessica Torres complained to the city when they asked her to take it down. When I asked the city, ‘So where do you expect my daughter to play?’ they said ‘Well, the city’s not responsible for your daughter’s disability,’” Torres said. “They said ‘Your Tiffany is not our problem.’”

4 ISIS Fighters Caught Crossing From Mexico to Texas in 36 hours. How Many Acutally Made It Through?

According to Judicial Watch, thanks to our lack security and the Obama Administration's open border policy, 4 ISIS terrorists were caught coming into the United States.

Based on the report, Islamic terrorists have entered the United States through the Mexican border and Homeland Security sources tell Judicial Watch that four have been apprehended in the last 36 hours by federal authorities and the Texas Department of Public Safety in McAllen and Pharr.

Judicial Watch confirmed this after California Congressman Duncan Hunter, a former Marine Corp Major and member of the House Armed Services Committee, disclosed on national television that at least ten Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) fighters have been caught crossing the Mexican border in Texas. The veteran lawmaker got the astounding intel straight from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the Homeland Security agency responsible for guarding the 1,933-mile southern border.

“If you really want to protect Americans from ISIS, you secure the southern border,” Hunter proclaimed on a national cable news show this week. “It’s that simple. ISIS doesn’t have a navy, they don’t have an air force, they don’t have nuclear weapons. The only way that ISIS is going to harm Americans is by coming in through the southern border – which they already have.” The three-term congressmen went on: “They aren’t flying B-1 bombers, bombing American cities, but they are going to be bombing American cities coming across from Mexico.”

One has to ask how many have crossed that haven't been caught?

MIKE HUCKABEE: I Will Leave Republican Party, If They Do Not Stand Up Against Gay Marriage

MIKE HUCKABEE: I am utterly exasperated with Republicans and the so-called leadership of the Republicans
Gov Mike Huckabee
who have abdicated on this issue when, if they continue this direction they guarantee they’re gonna lose every election in the future....

If the Republicans wanna lose guys like me, and a whole bunch of still God-fearing Bible-believing people, go ahead and just abdicate on this issue, and go ahead and say abortion doesn’t matter, either. Because at that point, you lose me, I’m gone. I’ll become an independent, I’ll start finding people that have guts to stand, I’m tired of this.

Two 'unaccompanied minors' aka Illegal aliens carjack elderly man in Iowa

On Wednesday, police arrested two Guatemalan nationals, ages 16 and 17, following a high speed chase which ended on Interstate 80, just outside Iowa City.

Around 6 a.m., the pair walked out of Maryville Academy in Des Plaines, Ill., and committed their first carjacking of the day. They then drove 165 miles to a Walmart in Moline, Iowa, where they ordered a 91-year-old man out of his car, according to police.

Moline Police Det. Scott Williams stated: "They obviously chose him to take his vehicle. He walked with a cane. They watched him go in and get his medication from the VA."
The illegal aliens smashed into a car on the way out of the parking lot, driving another 220 miles in the stolen vehicle, until so-called 'stop sticks' were thrown in their path by Iowa state troopers. Their actions were captured on store surveillance video.  The two suspects came to the U.S. in the recent surge of illegal aliens flooding across our border from Central America and Mexico.

The teens had been transferred to the Illinois facility after crossing the US-Mexico border as unaccompanied minors and requesting asylum in the United States.

Maryville Academy is a residential facility for at-risk and mentally-ill youths. The U.S. Health and Human Services agency has sent a number of so-called "unaccompanied minors" to the facility in the last several months.
Though U.S. Border Patrol agents have reported that many of the more than 60,000 minors who have come to this country illegally over the last several months, are gang members, Obama administration policy demands that they be allowed to enter. Many of these teens have been identified as members of the hyper-violent Latin American gang known as MS-13.

Wednesday's incidents have reportedly prompted federal officials to order a "security assessment" at all facilities currently housing illegal aliens.

Yes This Is Real! Appeals Court To Decide If Chimpanzees Should Be Declared ‘Persons’

We abort our unborn and declare animals as persons?  We truly do live in a backwards world.

A New York appeals court will decide whether chimpanzees should be declared “persons” rather than “things” so the animals can be freed from what critics call inhumane imprisonment.

Attorney Steven Wise argued Wednesday on behalf of Tommy, who lives alone in a cage in upstate Fulton County. A trial level judge refused a request by Wise and his Nonhuman Rights Project to have Tommy released to join other chimps at a Florida sanctuary.

Wise argues that animals with human qualities, such as chimps, deserve basic rights, including freedom from imprisonment. He’s also seeking the release of three other chimps in New York.

Tommy’s owner, Patrick Lavery of Gloversville, said the chimpanzee is happy and has cable TV and a stereo for entertainment. He didn’t appear in court or submit documents.

Report Says Sexual Harassment High For Waitresses

Here we go again with those wanting to increase the minimum wage with out having to educate or apply themselves.
Waitresses complaining of  sexual harassment

According to a report in today's Detroit Free Press, some 90% of women in restaurant jobs that depend on tips report being bothered at work by some form of sexual harassment, according to a scathing report on the restaurant industry out Tuesday.

It is particularly a problem, the report says, for women restaurant workers in states where tipped jobs have the lower federal minimum wage of $2.13. The federal minimum for non-tipped workers is $7.25. Both are higher in many states.

"We need to eliminate the sub-minimum wage for tipped workers in the United States," says Saru Jayaraman, co-director and co-founder of the non-profit restaurant worker's group, Restaurant Opportunities Center (ROC) United, which oversaw the 34-page report, "The Glass Floor: Sexual Harassment in the Restaurant Industry.

Could it perhaps be how some women in the restaurant industry dress or conduct themselves during the meal.  In order to get a large tip many women will flirt with the man or men of the table.  I personally have experienced having waitresses flirt with me to get the big check and much to my displeasure when I am sitting with a female date across from me

Woman Issues Herself Her Own Death Sentence, Plans To Kill Herself Nov 1st

At age 29, Brittany Maynard has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, traveled around the world and just married the man she loves. And now she's chosen to die on Nov. 1.

After getting married, Maynard sought help in January for increasingly intense headaches. In April she was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma, the deadliest of all brain cancers in a very advanced stage.

Her doctors gave her 6 months to live, and said her death would be slow and very painful.

"My glioblastoma is going to kill me, and that's out of my control," she told People magazine. "I've discussed with many experts how I would die from it, and it's a terrible, terrible way to die. Being able to choose to go with dignity is less terrifying."

After her diagnosis and decision to end her life. Maynard moved from San Francisco to Oregon, which allows doctors to provide euthanasia services for the terminally ill. On Monday she plans to launch a publicity campaign with the nonprofit Compassion & Choices, explaining her decision and to fight for an expansion of death-with-dignity laws in the United States.

She chose Nov. 1 so she could celebrate her husband's birthday on Oct. 30.

When Maynard passes on Nov. 1, she will do so in the bedroom she shares with her husband. By her side will be her mother, stepfather, husband and best friend (who is also a physician)

Obama Booed at Michigan State Spartan's Stadium During Football Game Against Nebraska

According to reports on Twitter and from several individuals who called into the Rush Limbaugh Show on Monday, President Obama was enthusiastically booed when he appeared in a public service announcement shown on the scoreboard video screen at Michigan State University during Saturday’s football game against Nebraska.

The “It’s On Us” PSA, which features a parade of celebrities in addition to the president and Vice President Biden, was designed “to fundamentally shift the way we think about sexual assault, by inspiring everyone to see it as their responsibility to do something, big or small, to prevent it,” according to a White House press release. The campaign was launched in partnership with the Center for American Progress’ Generation Progress and students from nearly 200 colleges and universities across the country. The NCAA has agreed to assist the White House through ”resources on NCAA.org; coverage of the campaign in its award-winning quarterly magazine, Champion; activities during the National Week of Action in November; and a half-day session on sexual assault and violence prevention at the Association’s annual convention in January.” The NCAA also agreed to show the PSAs at NCAA championship events and on social media.

The student section started the booing when President Obama’s face appeared on the screen at the end of the video. They were joined by others in the stadium.

Why Michigan should keep term limits for legislators

The Michigan Constitution is a long document, so when a state legislator happens to forget a provision or two, that's understandable. But in the case of Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville, he seems to have forgotten the first line – the one that says "all political power is inherent in the people."

Since last December, the Monroe Republican has been on a crusade to weaken the term limits that voters enacted with an 18-point margin of victory in 1992. Polls showthat term limits still have support in Michigan, and no citizen group is calling for term limits to be weakened or repealed. This idea exists purely inside the minds of politicians and their allies.

By refusing to accept the people's will on term limits, Richardville is not only disregarding the state Constitution, but also attempting to reverse democracy. Whereas ideas are supposed to originate with citizens and be implemented by politicians, his plan does the opposite. It takes an idea only legislators love and forces skeptical voters to deal with it. There's no good reason why citizens should have to spend time, energy and money to defeat a ballot question they haven't asked for.

If Richardville manages to get his anti-term limits measure on

the ballot, it's likely to receive financial backing from the same special interests that fund his campaigns. That won't be chump change.
As the felon mega-lobbyist Jack Abramoff admitted, lobbyists hate term limits because they're forced to work harder under such a system. "When you finally 'purchase' an office, you don't want to have to repurchase it in six years," he said.

Under Richardville's plan, one purchase could give any lobbyist a lifetime subscription of a dishonest politician.

The anti-term limits plan gets even more bizarre when one considers what's happening in Grand Rapids right now. Good government activists there have collected 10,250signatures to place solid eight-year term limits – the same length Richardville complains about – on their municipal ballot.

Isn't it strange that term limits are always initiated by citizens, but their repeals originate with legislators? The passion and enthusiasm for term limits shown by the people of Grand Rapids reveals a big disconnect on the issue between citizens and career politicians like Richardville. At moments like these, it's important to remember which one is the other's boss. Politicians answer to the people, not vice versa.

It's no wonder Richardville yearns to go back to the days before term limits, when unseating an incumbent in Michigan was like prying a sword from a stone. From 1967 to 1990, only 16 state Senate incumbents were defeated – a 96% re-election rate. By contrast, 25 senators were term-limited in 2010 alone. These vacancies create real opportunities for citizens to run for office – ones that didn't exist before, and will cease to exist if Richardville's idea gets traction. New legislators bring with them fresh perspectives that reflect the other side of government: what it's like to actually live under the laws, rather than just write them. Lansing should not become a smaller version of Washington, where seniority means power and new voices are often ignored.

The senator claims that legislators don't oppose term limits out of self-interest. "Anybody that takes this job, that gives up a pension, gives up usually better pay," he said. But Richardville's annual salary of $95,085 is 213% of what the average Michigander earns in a year, and the percentage he contributes to his own health care is lower than the private sector average. Compared to other states, Michigan's legislative compensation is the fourth-highest in the nation.

Voters don't believe for a minute that, by staying in office, politicians are making a sacrifice. They know all too well the perks and privileges of elected office, and are sure to see these comments as out-of-touch.

Now is the time to stand up for term limits and against Richardville's proposal. An influential senator in a lame-duck session should not be permitted to overrule the people's will.

Schools Going Meatless On Mondays

Starting today, meat is off the menu at all Sarasota County Florida schools.

They're launching Meatless Mondays.  Forget the fact that human's are carnivores and we need meat to fufill our nutrient requirements including protein.  This is even more important in children.

The district says there will be no revolt from hungry students because kids have actually been pushing for lunch trays with only veggies on board.

What's on a meatless menu? Things like hummus and vegetable subs, veggie pasta bakes, spaghetti, pizza sticks you can dip, taco salads, and more.

Why make this change? The district says the number one reason, really, is that students are asking for it. The district surveys students and runs focus groups with kids and, in general, the results show students want healthy foods and more menu options with no meat. There's also a national effort to promote healthy eating and living with Meatless Mondays. It's been going for a decade now.

The food chief for Sarasota County Public Schools told us Meatless Monday is a good way to get kids thinking about how to fight obesity and other chronic health problems. Although, she does say that since the menu items are rearranged from other days, the direct benefit for kids' health won't be too huge.
