And now Tim Miller, the openly gay executive director of America Rising PAC, has been hired has the Bush campaign’s communications director.

Bush has good company, though, when it comes to letting the fox into the hen house on marriage politics. Miller previously served as spokesman at the Republican National Committee and for the presidential campaigns of John Huntsman and John McCain.

Miller, 33, is not shy about promoting his gay lifestyle on social media, and “loves to mock conservatives” who defend marriage being between one man and one woman, according to a website that promotes homosexuality.

Straight out of the Republican Party platform, right? Just like Bush’s support for amnesty and common core.

Is Jeb doing what ever it takes to be elected even though he is unelectable? Just last month Jeb Bush  said he still thinks the issue should be in the hands of voters.

The Miami Herald reported Jeb saying:

“It ought be a local decision. I mean, a state decision,” the former governor said Sunday in a brief interview. “The state decided. The people of the state decided. But it’s been overturned by the courts, I guess.”

The paper also provides some background on Bush's mixed record on LGBT rights over the years:

As governor, he was against same-sex marriage but wasn’t publicly enthusiastic about the successful 2008 campaign to rewrite the Florida Constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman. Bush, who left office in 2007, said the change wasn’t needed, since state law already restricted marriage to heterosexual couples. Two years ago, he suggested in a PBS interview that gay parents could be held up as role models, even as he said “traditional marriage is what should be sanctioned” by the government.

In the 2012 interview, Bush told Charlie Rose that “if people love their children with all their heart and soul and that’s what they do and that’s how they organize their life, that should be held up as an example to others, because we need it.” In a speech to a Republican group last year, Bush warned against being a party seen as against too many things, including being “anti-gay.”

Wild speculations are flying around now that Ronna Romney McDaniel has resigned from her position as Republican National Committeewoman once she became Chair of the Michigan Republican Party.

Many names of women in the Republican Party have been thrown around by many on Social Media.  including Lt. Gov Brian Calley's wife - Julie Calley, former candidate for Michigan Republican Chair - Kim Shmina, former candidate for Vice-Chair Marian Sheridian, former National Committeewoman and former U.S. Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land as well as many others.

There is a big push to nominate Upper Peninsula conservative activist Mary Sears by some. Mary holds the same conservative and fiscal values as Dave Agema and see her at the female version of Agema.

In reality the National Committee woman will probably be more in line with Ronna Romney McDaniel and a long term Republican Party activist.

If I were to place bets my best guesses for the National Committee Woman would be one of the following,  Betsy Devos - who has become an advocate for gay marriage especialy since her husband's right hand man Greg McNeilly married his long time boyfriend, Sharon Wise- the former Vice Chair of the Michigan Republican Party or Linda Lee Tarver - the former Ethnic Vice-Chair who would add more diversity to the National Committee.

My bet is that the position goes to Linda Lee Tarver.

Christian florist rejects attorney general's offer, won't betray her religious beliefs

A judge ruled last week that a Washington florist and Christian grandmother Barronelle Stutzman violated the law when she refused to provide arrangements for a same-sex wedding, Stutzman

rejected a tempting settlement offer that would have spared her from losing her home and business, because it would have forced her to turn her back on God.

As Stutzman was found guilty of violating Washington's non-discrimination law last Wednesday for declining to service the wedding of Robert Ingersoll and Curt Freed in 2013 due to her Christian belief of marriage, Stutzman runs the risk of losing not only her business but her house and life savings once a summary judgement is reached.

Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson offered the 70-year-old Stutzman, the owner of Arlene's flowers, a settlement on Thursday that would have spared Stutzman the high, bankrupting legal costs that she could incur as a result of the summary judgement.

The settlement offer would have required Stutzman to pay just $2,001 in fines and legal costs. However, the settlement also would have required Stutzman go against her religious beliefs and agree service gay wedding requests.

"I am prepared to settle this matter for a penalty of $2,000 under the Consumer Protection Act, a $1 payment for costs and fees, an agreement not to discriminate in the future, and an end to further litigation," Ferguson said in a statement.

The next day, Stutzman sent a letter to Ferguson rejecting his settlement and stating that the settlement would have required her to betray Jesus Christ, much like Judas did.

"Washington's constitution guarantees us 'freedom of conscience in all matters of religious sentiment.' I cannot sell that precious freedom," Stutzman's letter asserts. "You are asking me to walk in the way of a well-known betrayer, one who sold something of infinite worth for 30 pieces of silver. That is something I will not do."

Stutzman's letter added that Ferguson continues to prove that he does not understand the true meaning of "freedom."

"Your offer reveals that you don't really understand me or what this conflict is all about. It's about freedom, not money," Stutzman wrote. "I certainly don't relish the idea of losing my business, my home, and everything else that your lawsuit threatens to take from my family, but my freedom to honor God in doing what I do best is more important."

Although Stutzman has been portrayed by some media outlets as being an intolerable bigot for refusing to serve a gay wedding, Stutzman served Robert Ingersoll for over 9 years before he asked her to provide floral arrangements for his gay wedding. Even though Stutzman had built a great relationship with Ingersoll, she could not in good faith put her full heart into making floral arrangements for Ingersoll's wedding and thought it would be best to decline to Ingersoll's request.

After much social media uproar, Ferguson's office filed a lawsuit against Stutzman, although no official complaint was filed against her. After the state filed a lawsuit, the couple filed a lawsuit with backing from the American Civil Liberties Union.

"I pray that you reconsider your position. I kindly served Rob for nearly a decade and would gladly continue to do so. I truly want the best for my friend," Stutzman's letter stated. "I've also employed and served many members of the LGBT community, and will continue to do so regardless of what happens with this case. You chose to attack my faith and pursue this not simply as a matter of law, but to threaten my very means of working, eating and having a home.

"If you are serious about clarifying the law, then I urge you to drop your claims against my home, business, and other assets and pursue the legal claims through the appeal process," Stutzman added.

Stutzman further added that the state's laws present a double standard when it comes to protecting citizens' differing beliefs on marriage.

"Our state would be a better place if we respected each other's differences, and our leaders protected the freedom to have those differences," Stutzman wrote. "Since 2012, same-sex couples all over the state have been free to act on their beliefs about marriage, but because I follow the Bible's teaching that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, I am no longer free to act on my beliefs."

Playing off the popular Snicker's commercial which shows a person as someone other than themselves when hungry, conservative Jeff Phillips created a funny meme on newly elected State Representative Todd Courser, whom in tea party circles was credited with being extremely conservative.  

Todd upset some in the tea party conservative movement with his endorsement of a candidate other than Kimberly Shmina or Norm Hughes for Michigan Republican Chairman.

Kim Shmina did ask me to remove this post because she doesn't want to be negative. IDK, I'll think about it. I'm putting this out in a humorous context, and am not holding any ill will. Just know that it is NOT coming from the Shmina's--this is entirely my own jest and I take full responsibility for it personally.
 Todd and I remain good friends. We did talk things over and I understand 80% of his reasoning on this decision. I do hope that he'll take the time to get to know Kim & Michael more as they are really good people, and I think everyone involved in the various campaigns can agree that we've grown as a movement from our collective experiences in all that has transpired over these recent weeks. Oh, and the snickers bar is kind of an inside joke--they don't let him have a lunch break in his schedule in the legislature.
 I must say I've always been nervous about the MIGOP chair position going to anyone connected to the Romney political machine, only because of our past experiences in 2012. My biggest beef was what the Romney team came up with for RNC rule changes which were pushed through completely fraudulently--they actually kidnapped Morton Blackwell, the RNC Committeeman from Virginia, along with his whole state's delegation trapping them on a bus so that he couldn't introduce the minority report opposing the rule changes. Michigan's liberty delegates were the backup plan & when they tried to make the motion to introduce the minority report, Romney's supporters got right up behind the delegate and started screaming "USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!" at the top of their lungs deliberately for the purpose of drowning out his voice so nobody could hear him make his motion from the microphone. Then John Boehener read pre-scripted vote results straight off a teleprompter which had been typed up before the vote even happened--and there was no vote count at all. It was downright shameful.
 I've seen youtube videos of convention fraud all across the country, and I know it's all true because I've seen it here in Michigan. My county followed the rules but shut us out nevertheless. Without being a delegate that year, I still attended the Cobo convention as a volunteer usher, where I was left out in the hall with all the Ron Paul delegates who were not allowed inside because their name wasn't on the list. Through this experience I met a great friend from Genesee county who was among those disenfranchised by criminal election fraud committed by some of our former party leaders. While justice wasn't served and the appropriate criminal charges were never filed, we have at least had a change of leadership and those known to be responsible for such acts are no longer in charge.
 Looking back on it now, if it hadn't happened the vote count in that convention cycle would have been only slightly different and would not have impacted the final outcome, except that I would never have had the opportunity to meet so many new friends along the way. Perhaps the time has come to put the past behind us and move on---although moving on does include the need for us to repair the rule changes, and strengthen them with a system of checks and balances this party is currently lacking.
 I have not actually met Ronna McDaniel personally. I wanted to shake her hand at the convention but we were so busy I never had a chance. I do think it is unfair to judge a person according to who their family is. Perhaps she is a better person than all of what we experienced among the supporters of her uncle. I probably wouldn't have been as concerned if she had gone by the Ronna McDaniel name. She chooses to associate with the Romney's by emphasizing her maiden name as her middle name in a way that most people do not. That does bother me a little bit, but I did hear just yesterday that when she tried leaving off Romney from her name, she took slack from people saying she needed it in there. It must be an awkward position to get those sorts of gripes both ways as she can't please everyone.
 When Mitt announced that he is not running in 2016, this did go a long way to reduce my fears of what could happen.
 Another factor was when Ronna selected Jeff Sakwa as co-chair. I really do think he'll help provide some balance and keep things in check. I've met Sakwa before and I think he's a pretty decent guy. He is strong in opposing any retaliatory acts from state party when they don't get what they want out of the counties. I think that in and of itself is huge. We don't agree on everything of course--certainly not forign policy as we debated about those topics a year or two ago. But we aren't sending him to congress. At the time it was MSU's board, now it's MIGOP co-chair. Our areas of disagreement are mostly irrelevant to these positions anyway. So there's no point in arguing.
 The results of this convention are what they are. Everyone involved in every campaign has learned and grown a lot in this convention cycle. Much has been discovered and we are all better positioned to do great things leading into 2016.
 Now it is simply time we laugh things off and work together moving forward.
 PS: On a side note, I have only heard positive things about Norm's running mate, Marian Sheridan. I don't know her personally, but given the rumors people have been spreading about me and Norm I just wanted to say that Marian isn't any part of that riff and by all accounts I've heard, a good strong conservative.

Pencil-gate Did Pencils At Congressional District Election Already Predict Winners

Voters in Michigan's 1st Republican Congressional District have reported voting with pencils that had the winners of the night's elections already printed on them.   

1st Congressional District constituent Priscilla Miller stated on her Facebook page "Interesting!! I would love to see one of the Pencils passed out at last night's Michigan State GOP Convention. They just happened to list the names of ALL the candidates who won seats in the 1st Congressional District! Especially, since no 'Slates' of candidates running, were allowed! I for one do not believe in 'coincidence'!"

Dr. Joseph Guzman: The Right Choice For Administrative Vice-Chair

There is no doubt on experience for Administrative Vice-Chair of the Michigan Republican Party that  Dr. Joseph Guzman​ by far has the best resume of  all the candidates applying for the position, followed by the  incumbent Dave Wolkinson.  One of the candidates, not sure if he is seriously running or doing this as a joke, passed out his resume of a picture of him with a Hollywood actor.    

Because of his impressive resume and background,   Dr. Joseph Guzman​ get's my endorsement. 

 As stated the second best option would be Dave Wolkinson, should a 2nd round  vote occur and Guzman is out.

  Dr. Joseph Guzman has enjoyed an expansive career in higher education and public service. In addition to a Ph.D. in Economic Analysis and Policy from Stanford University, Dr. Guzman holds advanced degrees in economics, statistics and business research from Stanford together with an MBA and an undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Guzman has volunteered and assisted with political campaigns running the spectrum from local and national. In the spirit of service, he has demonstrated little regard for titles, standing or recognition – but every regard for political success. Mike Mitchell: The Right Choice For Michigan's 11th Congressional District

When one stands for what is right with risk to themselves

they should be rewarded.

We have two great candidates for the 11th Congressional Republican District Committee Chairman position, the first term incumbent Mike Mitchell and challenger Matt Maddock.  Both are strong conservatives.  I have the utmost respect for both men, but much consideration Mike Mitchell does deserve another term as Chairman of the 11th District. 

  

As a outspoken conservative member of the 11th Committee I can attest that Mike Mitchell is a conservative.  Mike has constantly reached out to board members for their opinion before making any rash decision.   I cannot recall a time during his first 2 year term when he approached me with a different view on issues that what I share.

As the 11th District Chair Mike and through his leadership on the  committee  opposed  common core, passed a resolution reaffirming the 5th Amendment and Due process by opposing the NDAA act,  opposed medicaid expansion and supported the Republican Platform by opposing changes to it. 

At our last meeting Mike Mitchell invited Scott Haggerstrom, formally of American's For Prosperity,  and now with Paul Mitchell's "Coalition Against Higher Taxes and Special Interest Deals" to come and speak with us and educate the district on Proposal 1, the sales tax proposal.  Mike wanted the board and the constituents in the district to know how the Proposal would effect them if passed.    Just like you and I ,  Mike is tired of the waste in Lansing. 

Any constituent that had an issue or had a resolution that they wanted to have the committee to look at, Mike made sure they had a chance to speak. 

Our meetings were always open to the constituents of the District and many did take advantage of watching the 11th District board meetings and participating in the meetings. 

Under Mike's leadership the board adopted new bylaws that kept the 11th Congressional District neutral in all primaries and no endorsements or donations were given to candidates in primaries.  An individual board member could make an endorsement but they could not mention the 11th Congressional District in their endorsement.

As the Chair of the 11th district, Mike kept his campaign promise to promote a fair and open party.  A party that supports every candidate’s right to run for office, and right to be heard.  That is why he was proud to be one of only two District Chairs that signed Wes Nakagiri’s petition to run for Lt. Governor.  And recently he  signed both Ronna Romney McDaniel’s and Norm Hughes’s petitions to run for State Party Chair without any stipulations.  Mike's belief whether or not you or I support these candidates, they have a right to be heard and we have the right to vote or not vote for them.  

Mike also kept his promise to bring tea party conservatives into the party.  We had tea-party conservatives on the board and Mike discussed with me about the potential of adding a tea-party conservative to State Committee when a spot opened up.  Unfortunately the tea-party member left our board before that opportunity arose.  

Mike has been very open to new members becoming delegates.  Mike made sure that we asked all in attendance in our meetings if they wanted to become a delegate during our meetings in early 2014 up to our April meeting, right before the May filing deadline.  Mike made it easy for one to be a delegate as well as he personally offered to deliver delegate forms to the Wayne County Office and Barb Harrell offered to take the forms to the Oakland County Clerk's Office.

Mike was not only a leader but an extremely hard worker.  He was instrumental in putting together many of our district events from Christmas Parties to Summer Picnics.  All of this while maintaining his full time private sector job.  Mike was one of the hardest workers and many have dubbed him the go to guy for putting up campaign signs.  I can attest this fact as during October of last year, every time I called him, he was putting up signs for many of the candidates in the district.   Mike has also donated hours of time door knocking and making phone calls for multiple candidates.

Because Mike did fight back against establishment forces and kept his word, he deserves a second term.   It is a rarity to find someone that actually keeps their word in politics

I do hear by give my endorsement to Mike Mitchell for re-election to a second term.  

Obama rejects Jordan's and Egypt's Request For ISIS Target Locations

Oliver North told Greta Van Susteren tonight that the Egyptian government asked the US for information on ISIS targets in Libya yesterday after ISIS beheaded 21 Christians. But, the Obama Administration refused the request. The Obama administration also refused to give Jordan information on ISIS targets in Syria after their pilot was burned alive in a cage.

“President El Sisi asked for American intelligence targeting intelligence before today’s strikes and didn’t get it. King Abdullah of Jordan asked for Intelligence data on targets to respond to the murder of a Jordanian aircraft pilot. The Kurds are begging for arms and ammo from the United States, not one bullet has been delivered by the United States.”

An incredible story as we remember George Washington, Abe Lincoln and our other past presidents today on President's Day.  

One former president president isn't a well-known historical figure; he's probably best remembered

for helping to push through the annexation of Texas in 1845, shortly before leaving office.  Who was this President?   It was our 10th President John Tyler, born March 28, 1790 - almost 225 years ago and he still has two living grandchildren. 

 Tyler was William Henry Harrison’s Whig running mate in the 1840 election, which spawned one of the most famous campaign slogans in American history, “Tippecanoe and Tyler too.” On his 32nd day in office, Harrison died of complications from pneumonia. Tyler was then the first vice president to become president due to the death of his predecessor, serving from 1841-1845.

Tyler also has the distinction of becoming the first president to get married while in office — after his first wife died in 1842, Tyler married Julia Gardiner, who was 30 years younger than him, in 1844.

So, how is it possible that a former president who died 150 years ago would still have direct descendants alive today? As it turns out, the Tyler men were known for fathering children late in life. And that math is pretty outstanding when added up.

Tyler fathered Lyon Gardiner Tyler in 1853, at age 63.  Then, at the

age of 71, Lyon Gardiner Tyler fathered Lyon Gardiner Tyler Jr. in 1924 and four years later at age 75, Harrison Ruffin Tyler. Both men are still alive today.

That means just three generations of the Tyler family are spread out over more than 200 years. 

A Message From President Obama About Net Neutrality

Cohen noted broadband policy is dominated by lawyers and lobbyists, not engineers who know how things really work: “No offense to anyone here,” he said. “I’m a lawyer and have done my share of politics. But that kind of experience doesn’t make me, or anybody else like me, an authority on the Internet.”

Cohen identifies the reliable, secure, and fair management provided by engineers for the current accessibility of broadband. Their efforts have brought the Internet and thousands of bandwidth-thirsty applications to an estimated 2 billion users worldwide.

Not only must engineers work with the technology that makes the Internet possible, they must also interact with business people and investors to “support making these networks bigger, faster, safer, and more sophisticated,” Cohen noted.

The Truth Behind The Michigan Sales Tax Increase Plus Gas Tax Increase

Yes they really think that we are this stupid and yes they really do think they have the  deal in the bag.  We are talking about our Lansing lawmakers and the "sales tax proposal" set for a vote in May.   There is a reason why the proposal was set to a May vote, May historically has the lowest turn out of voters and you can be certain that the greedy lawmakers and their special interests will get their people to the polls. 

The lawmakers are already counting on this proposal passing, so much so that they have already unveiled an $88 million plus plan to create underground parking and an underground tunnel so they can get to their offices by perhaps avoiding their constituents on the outside?

 This planned welcome center will provide a better and more secure way for visitors to enter the building," Carol Viventi, co-chair of the commission, said in a news release.  In reality it is a more secure way for lawmakers to avoid their constituents is what many believe.

Officials could break ground on the project as early as this

summer.

The work can be funded now thanks to a new, $3 million annual budget established this year for Capitol renovations and upkeep.   

Where did the extra $3 billion come from in this budget?  Why wasn't it applied to the roads?

The lawmakers tell us that is just a 1cent sales hike in the sales tax but the truth is it is a $1.7 billion tax-hike scheme (1) that we’re supposed to believe will help fix the roads. The plan, which requires voter approval in May, includes:

• 16% increase in the state sales tax
• 23 cents-per-gallon hike in gas taxes
• $95 million more in registration taxes
• $60 million in Internet sales taxes

Also gas taxes can be increased on an annual basis now, if this proposal passes, to keep up with inflation! 

In addition to a mishmash of tax hikes, the package includes giveaways that have nothing to do with fixing our roads–from mass transit to welfare-style government assistance to contracting preferences for a “disadvantaged business enterprise.”

TAX HIKES

$1.2 billion gas tax hike

Michigan drivers will pay 23 cents-per-gallon more in gas taxes. That would put Michigan in the top five states with the highest gas taxes and give us the highest gasoline excise tax in the nation. Over time, as the price of gas rises, that tax will go up automatically–without a vote of the legislature or input from taxpayers. (3)

$1.34 billion sales tax hike

Lawmakers voted to put a 16% hike in the state sales tax on the Michigan ballot. If approved, the rate would rise from 6% to 7%, including on Internet sales. (Lawmakers voted on separate bills to force Internet sales tax collections.) (4)

$95 million registration “fee” tax hike

Michigan drivers will also pay $95 million more in registration “fees.” Long-term, this tax hike is expected to total $210 million.

GIVEAWAYS

In order to buy enough votes to get the proposal passed through the legislature, the package was loaded up with giveaways that have nothing to do with roads:

$260 million welfare-style EITC assistance

The Earned Income Tax Credit resembles direct government assistance, such as welfare and food stamps, more than a tax credit. Filers who pay out nothing in income taxes still get money back from the government under this program. (5)

$300 million more for education establishment

Over the past four years, spending on education has increased by more than $1 billion. (6) This “deal” guarantees even more money for the public school apparatus, even though Michigan is one of 21 states that employs more non-teaching staff than teachers. (7)

$130 million more for mass transit

Instead of dedicating all new revenue to roads, the package hands mass transit programs another $130 million, a move that was viewed as necessary to buy support from Detroit-area politicians who favor bigger-government.

Why are we celebrating Oregon's potential new Governor Kate Brown for being Bi-Sexual.  The woman is married yet does not live a monogamous lifestyle. Back in the day sleeping with someone other than your spouse was considered adultery.  Why are we celebrating adultery??

The leftist push has been for gay marriage but as we are now learning, that will not stop there.  The next step is for polygamist marriages where one can have as many spouses as they wish.  If you're bi-sexual shouldn't you have more than one spouse?  One of each sex??  This will be the new leftist rallying call to destroy the strongest pillar that makes America great,  and that is marriage. 

Cops Seize Cell Camera From Bystander Recording Arrest

A Lakeside Colorado Walmart customer pulled out his cell phone in front of the store on Monday evening to capture video of Lakeside Police arresting a man suspected of shoplifting. The man

shooting the video, Chris Hoover, didn't expect he'd end up in handcuffs, too.

The video shows two police officers wrestling a man on the ground. When they get the man in cuffs one officer realizes there is a camera. During the commotion the officer points at the camera and says "that phone is evidence. I want it." Hoover then says "it's mine."

"So he snatched it out of my hand... I wasn't going to resist. He grabbed my wrist, and then he put me in cuffs," Hoover said.

Lakeside police would not go on camera, citing an ongoing investigation. However, they did say they

stand by their officers. They say police have a right to detain someone if they have video of a crime.

"He said, 'look, you have two choices,'" Hoover explained. "He said, 'either I will arrest you right here, right now for obstructing justice, and then we will get a search warrant, and we will get your phone, and we will get that piece of video as police evidence.'"

The ACLU of Colorado says police can get a search warrant but that the phone typically should remain with the owner until that warrant is obtained.

"Police officers can ask for a copy or ask for the video, but in the absence of a warrant, to actually seize somebody's personal property, I don't think police officers can seize it or threaten to seize it except in the most extreme emergency circumstances," ACLU Colorado Director Mark Silverstein said

ISIS is now dangerously close to a base where US Marines are training Iraqi soldiers

Islamic State insurgents took control on Thursday of most of the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi, threatening an air base where U.S. Marines are training Iraqi troops, officials said.

Al-Baghdadi, about 85 km (50 miles) northwest of Ramadi in Anbar province, had been besieged for months by the radical Sunni Islamist militants who captured vast swathes of Iraq’s north and west last year.

“Ninety percent of al-Baghdadi district has fallen under the control of the insurgents,” district manager Naji Arak told Reuters by phone.

A Reuters report on the situation claims the heavy fighting in al-Baghdadi is much more significant than the Pentagon is letting be known. In fact, Reuters says al-Baghdadi is now in complete control of ISIS. The same report references claims from intelligence sources that say al-Asad has been attacked but so far the attack was unsuccessful.

Militants attacked al-Baghdadi from two directions earlier in the day and then advanced on the town, intelligence sources and officials in the Jazeera and Badiya operations commands said.

The officials said another group of insurgents then attacked the heavily-guarded Ain al-Asad air base five km southwest of the town, but were unable to break into it.

OBAMA: Climate Change Worse Than Terrorism - Out Of Touch?

Continuing to show the administration is either out of touch or has ulterior motives, the White House

doubled down on Tuesday stating that the dangers posed by climate change is greater for America  than the threat of terrorism.

As he spoke to reporters White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Americans no longer face the same threat of attack that they did prior to Sept. 11, 2001, crediting the administration’s efforts to degrade organizations such as al Qaeda.  Yet ISIS and Boka Horam are continuing to grow and Iran continues its path towards nuclear proliferation.

Today, Josh Earnest said, “There are many more people on an annual basis who have to confront the direct impact on their lives of climate change, or on the spread of a disease, than on terrorism,” he said. “When you’re talking about the direct daily impact of these kind of challenges on the daily lives of Americans, particularly Americans living in this country … more people are directly affected by those things than by terrorism.”

President Obama made the same argument during an interview with Vox released this week.

In its national security plan released last week, the administration also ranked climate change alongside more traditional threats such as nuclear proliferation and terrorism.

In the past few days, Twitter users have sited Williams everywhere from JFK’s convertible to Tupac Shakur’s passenger seat, making the question of where he was or wasn’t ever more complex.

Williams is only the latest in a painfully long line of fallen journalists who have twisted the facts, including The New York Times‘s Jayson Blair, USA Today‘s Jack Kelley, The New Republic’s Stephen Glass, and The Washington Post’s Janet Cooke. But unlike Williams, none of them have had to face up to the digital crowd. In recent years the time honored tradition of roasting public figures — the delight of every newspaper cartoonist — has become increasingly democratic. Might the laughing masses be enough of a deterrent to future would-be fibbers?
