The person was actually an adult decoy, not a real minor. That distinction matters. But the central issue remains: What did Lang believe, and how did he respond after being told the person was 15?
Reports say screenshots show flirtatious communications and references to keeping things “secret.” Lang has disputed the characterization and says the situation was a setup involving someone on his team. This is a laughable excuse.

Who sent the messages? Who controlled the account? When did Lang learn the supposed girl's age? Did the conversation continue afterward? Were the messages romantic, sexual or intended to arrange a meeting?
But the standard for an adult communicating with someone believed to be 15 should be simple: once the age is known, any flirtation or inappropriate conversation ends immediately.
