Attack on Trump, Censorship and Made Up Republican Party Position? Paul Welday on WXYZ TV In Detroit

Ok this is a rhetorical question; can someone tell me what an Oakland County Republican Committee Chairman is?  We will get to that in a minute.

Let us first lay the ground work, yesterday on WXYZ.TV ABC 7 4p.m News in Detroit former Michigan State Representative  and 9th District Republican Candidate for Congress, Rocky Raczkowski and long time  Michigan Republican Party operative  Paul Welday, who himself ran for Congress in 2010 and lost to fellow Republican Rocky Raczkowski, were on air discussing Donald Trump and the Republican Party.  

Both agreed that Trump's rhetoric needed to be toned down, but Rocky said Trump should stay in the race, he is a viable candidate but probably will not win it.  

Now here is where it gets interesting,  Paul Welday basically (which you will see from the video below) wants to silence Trump totally.  Welday who was chastising Trump for  insulting John McCain by saying  McCain was not a war hero ( a future story we are working on will let you determine if McCain was a war hero or zero), then himself insulted Trump by calling him a clown.  Welday also said Trump brought nothing to the table.  Welday who is from Oakland County then went on to dictate on live television that the Genessee County Chairman  Michael Moon should disinvite Trump and put in another Republican Presidential Candidate.  Welday would probably pick one of his "preferred" candidates.

If all this wasn't enough, during the introductions of Raczkowski and Welday something caught my attention.  WXYZ Senior Anchor Stephen Clark introduced Paul Welday as Oakland County Republican Committee Chairman.  Now what position is that?  There is the Oakland County Republican Party with Theresa Mungioli as Chairman.  Then there are multiple congressional boards in Oakland County as the county is divided amongst 4 congressional districts which are the 8th Congressional District with former  Michigan State Rep Tom McMillin as Chairman, the 9th Congressional District with Pamela Williams as Chairman, the 11th Congressional District with Mike Mitchell as Chairman, finally the 14th Congressional District with Janine Kateff as Chairman.

What is Paul Welday currently Chairman of??  Now at one time many years ago Paul Welday was Oakland County Republican Party Chairman, but not now.  He was also the Chairman of the 14th Congressional District, but was voted out and replaced with Janine Kateff in 2015.

Making up a title or position is disrespectful to those that rightfully were elected to their respective positions. 

Race for Republican Chair In Michigan Heats Up: 4 Candidates In - More To Follow?

As of  the initial filing deadline of Monday January 5th, 2015 four candidates have  filed to run for Michigan Republican Party Chair.  Mitt Romney's niece, Ronna Romney McDaniel of Northville, Kim Shmina of Fair Haven, David Wolkinson of Birmingham and Joel Poynter of Baldwin 

 Former State Rep. Pete Lund of Shelby Township, who expressed early interest, has yet to decided whether he will run.

 Other potential candidates could still meet the requirements for a late filing deadline by January 22.

Other potential candidates include longtime conservative activist Norm Hughes and Former State Rep. Tom McMillin. Current 14th District Chair Paul Welday is officially out and backing Romney McDaniel.

Reports on Facebook indicate that Norm Hughes maybe considering jumping in.  Norm is a professional architect and long-time conservative leader in Michigan going back to the 1960s, Norm

held three positions in the Ronald Reagan administration and is co-author of Michigan’s landmark Tax Limitation Amendment. Many encouraged Norm to run for chair in 2013 but he choose to back Todd Courser at that time.  It was Norm's leadership that almost gave Todd the Chairmanship over Bobby Schostak.

Kimberly Shmina

Kimberly Shmina, serves on the executive committee of the St. Clair County Republican Party and is vice chair of the 10th Congressional District GOP committee. She’s also a certified nurse practitioner with a Doctoral degree and teaches at Wayne State University.

David Wolkinson

David Wolkinson previously worked as Campaign Manger for former 11th District Congressman Kerry Bentivolio before he stepped aside and Barb Bulic of Macomb County took over that campaign.  David also worked as a policy director on Gov. Rick Snyder’s 2010 campaign and ran for state House in 2012, losing in the 40th District GOP primary by roughly 300 votes.  Some believe Wolkinson may be in the race to run interference with Shmina who is running a tough campaign against Romney McDaniel. 

Joel Poynter, is chairman of the Lake County Republican Party. He’s an engineer who contracted with Delphi and worked with Detroit automakers.

Poynter believes the current State Party leadership is not standing strong with the Republican platform.  He also said he thought GOP leaders erred when they asked Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema to resign for controversial anti-gay comments.

“Dave didn’t say anything that really wasn’t part of the platform,” said Poynter, referencing the party’s official stance on gay marriage. “But yet some at the state level really tried to crucify him. I have a problem with that. If it’s in the platform, why are you crucifying this guy?”

Romney family.  She has been described as one that has done everything from fundraising to knocking on doors to making calls to legislators encouraging them to support Right to Work in Michigan.

Right now the two top contenders are Ronna Romney McDaniel and Kimberly Shmina.  It is however anyone's game at this point and as more people get to know Joel Poynter he will climb in the polls.  The biggest game changer will come if Norm Hughes or Tom McMillin decide to jump into the race.

Earlier today Dr. Kimberly Shmina of Fair Haven, Michigan announced that she is now an official candidate for Michigan Republican Party Chair as Bobby Schostak announced that he is not running

Dr. Shmina previously ran in a hard fought school board race in Algonac where her goal was to curb the out of control spending and to fight the introduction of Common Core curriculum into the Algonac school district.

On her website  Dr. Kimberly Shmina says "In running for party chairperson, my main goal is to use a team approach to heal and grow our party in a manner that is inclusive and builds on the strengths of all of our members. It is a time for unity in order to ensure that strong conservatives are elected. I believe I am the leader who can help transform our party."

Dr. Shmina joins Ronna Romney McDaniel - a long time party activist, formerState Committee Woman, current Republican National Committee Woman and niece of  former Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, 

Also being mentioned in being interested or encouraged to run include, former Senatorial Candidate Terry Lynn Land who ran in 2010 before dropping out and endorsing  Bobby Schostak,  former MSU Trustee candidate Jeff Sakwa, current 14th District Chairman and long time party operative Paul Welday,  Kent County GOP Chair Dave Dishaw , Pete Lund and term linted but very conservative State Representative Tom McMillin.  However it has only been reported that Pete Lund and Tom McMillin have come out publicly about considering a run for State Chair.  Will they jump in after the first of the year?

Pete Lund  is currently a term limited State Representative for Michigan’s 36th district has publicly stated “If he’s (Bobby Schostak) out, I’m probably in.. “I’m talking to people hypothetically about things, and I feel very good about the response.”  As State Rep. , Pete Lund was selected to head the House Republican Campaign Review Task Force, a precursor to being selected as Chairman of the House Republican Campaign Committee.

Michigan Democrats And Republicans Greenlight Ballot Proposal To Raise Sales Tax To 7%

So we ended up getting a real lump of coal for Christmas from our cowardly legislators who waited till the 11th hour to dump a road proposal on us and then run for the hills claiming Christmas break. 

 Jase Bolger and Randy Richardville on the Republican side Gretchen Whitmer and Tim Grimell on the Democrat side have decided to push through a plan that will raise our sales tax to 7% (so for every $100 you give Lansing $7) . They are also eliminating our sales tax on gas (which is a bait and switch) and now taxing wholesale gas. This bait and switch will raise our gas prices by 5 cents, so for every $100 of gas $5 goes to Lansing.

These tax and spenders will say we can afford it because the price of gas is now $2. Again this is a bait and switch, as gas prices will surely rise again to the $4 level. One war, one hurricane, one oil refinery fire is all that it will take. 

Also part of this package gives public transportation another $100 million of our hard earned dollars on an annual basis. If public transportation is so viable, why can't it self sustain itself? 

Voters get to vote on this but our sneaky legislators decided May would be the best time to vote on this issue, so they can get their camp to get this to passing. They know very well that May has very low voter turn out.

Several legislators questioned the need for a tax increase including Republican State Senator Patrick Colbeck and Republican State Representative Tom McMillin.

facts for Michiganians to consider. When I started my service in the Legislature four years ago, our state budget was $46.8 billion. The last budget that we enacted for FY2014-2015 was $53.1 billion. That is an increase of $6.3 billion — $1.1 billion of that went toward education; $840 million has already gone toward our roads. That leaves $4.3 billion unaccounted for in our list of budget priorities. What are the odds that folks would find most, if not all, of the spending items associated with this $4.3 billion less important than fixing our roads?"

Commenting on the Detroit News Headline ‘Voters will be asked for tax increase to fix roads’  State Representative Tom McMillin who is against this tax increase stated, "This headline is actually very

false. Almost none of the 1% increase in sales tax goes to roads - it will go to schools, to the low-income and to local governments. If the sales tax hike in May fails, it is true that all the bills in this road funding package is repealed." 

Tom also said Governor Snyder saying that the additional cost for gas being a nickle or less is misleading.  He said "The gas tax will actually be about 12 cents higher.....going from 19 cents to 14.9% (with a minimum of 41 cents per gallon - but you have to take into effect that the 6% sales tax is removed)."

Tom also stated later “I've never seen the Dems so engaged on the floor with legislation - obviously they have a lot of say in the gas tax increase package.”

Norm Hughes Chair of the Michigan Conservative Union went so far as to write the legislators with 5 strong key points as to why any tax increase to fix the road is not needed.

 While all details of the "transportation fix" are not known to us yet, the bottom line is it increases taxes on several fronts. It CONTINUES to grow governments on the State and local levels and seeks to impose inter-state taxes that may violate the U.S. Constitution. It does not repeal prevailing wage laws and does not assure more competitive and more frugal purchase of government construction. It throws money at the problem instead of make frugal choices like our families must. 1) You have already grown State government at a brisk pace. The budget is up 16% - seven BILLION dollars in just four years. Georgia has 100,000 more people and provides adequate state services for $ 10 Billion a year less.
 2) Spending more than a billion dollars a week, Michigan certainly can find a few more dollars for roads if that is a true priority. If $1 Billion were a true need and priority, that requires a roll-back of just 2% of the budget elsewhere.
 3) We have seen no details on how or why local road spending needs to increase 73% as the Governor proposes. Grand Traverse has already passed it's own road funding increase, and Lapeer rejected an increase. The decision on local funding needs to be made on the county or local level where residents and voters know best, the need and affordability. THE need for an annual $1.2 BILLION INCREASE in perpetuity is NOT exhibited or proven.
 4) People are still hurting in this state. Unemployed and underemployed and senior families cannot afford more taxes increases. They already have been hit by millions of dollars in tax and fee increases.
 5) Raising more taxes will stifle the fledgling and sporadic economic growth Michigan is supposedly seeing.
Michigan took great steps towards improving the chances for jobs by passing Michigan Freedom To Work labor freedom laws, and changing the business tax structure.

Then it undermined those gains by going on a binge of government growth and increasing personal taxes. The trend has been towards protecting government income, instead of citizens. Let’s hope the new legislature will take a serious look at ALL expenditures and regulations and get governments off our backs and out of our purses.

 “The statewide survey of 600 likely voters May 20-22 found 45.5 percent say the state already has enough moneyto spend on roads, and that the current pot of fuel taxes and vehicle fees needs to be better spent. We encourage you to vote against putting this scheme on the ballot and let the next legislature have a fresh look at expenditures and regulations, and alternatives to fix our roads.

Tom McMillin: Michigan Legislature Working To Make Opting Out Of Vaccinations More Difficult

To my friends out there (and I know many of you may roll your eyes at this) who want to make sure there is the ability to allow parents to opt their children out from a government required immunization or two or more if they feel the risks outweigh the benefits, the change being contemplated at tomorrow's Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR)

deals with requiring "informed" consent to opt out.

The administration tells me that if the Rule is approved tomorrow, that they plan to have videos online explaining the government's view of the risks to opting out, that a person would be required to watch (not sure how they'll know) before being able to opt out.

However the rule is broad enough that it could also allow them to require anyone who wants to opt their child out of a shot or two or more, to physically go to one of the 45 MI Health Department offices and sit down with a doctor and listen to the doctor tell them of the risks the government believes are present, before being allowed to opt out.

Many argue that people should be very well informed of what the government feels are the risks of opting out. Some think that with this Rule, the government, either the current or future administrations who want to "clamp down" on the parental opt out, could make the process very onerous and difficult.

State Representative Fighting To Stop Electric Company Smart Meters

Term limited State Representative Tom McMillin has a final mission before he leaves office.  His mission?  Protecting Michigan residents from smart meters.

I know many...maybe most of my FB friends don't have a problem with Smart Meters...but they are being imposed by a state-regulated monopoly and there are many who have concerns...and our state constitution says citizens have the right to petition their government - I'm holding a hearing on 12/2 to let them voice their concerns.

"State Rep. Tom McMillin, committee chair, called for the hearing after being contacted by many constituents and other citizens about privacy, health and safety concerns relating to the meters.

“With this hearing, we’re giving the people of Michigan an open and transparent platform to not only voice their concerns but hopefully have them addressed by public utility officials” said McMillin, R-Rochester Hills. “Residents have contacted my office, terrified that their power will be shut off after receiving letters from utility companies threatening to do just that if they don’t allow a smart meter to be installed on their home, even though they have a perfectly working analog meter.”

One of those constituents is Clarkston resident Georgetta Livingstone, a former engineering instructor at Oakland University, who said DTE cut her electricity this spring after she paid someone to install an analog meter back on her home.

“When the smart meter went on my home, I had a total breakout on my body. It looked like an allergic reaction,” said Livingstone. “I decided to take action myself, and had the analog meter put on.”

After her power was cut, she was reduced to “primitive life,” she said, having to use the restroom at a nearby Kroger and take showers at a neighbor’s home. When she searched for answers, she connected with the group working with McMillin.

“I was so glad that someone else sees the problem here,” Livingstone said. “These companies should allow the customer to have a choice ... I don’t want to be told what to do.”

Michgan Primary Shows Tea Party Is Alive And Well

Although the Tea Party suffered some losses with the election losses of Tom McMillin, Alan Arcand and Peter Konetchy for Congress,  Matthew Maddock for State Senate, Wendy Lynn Day, Angela Rigas, and Deb O'Hagan for State Representative, there were many victories.

Tea Party and Christen victories included; Justin Amash, 3rd District Representative in Congress who battled a tough primay, 7th District State Senator Patrick Colbeck, Lana Theis, 42nd District State Representative, Jim Runestad, 44th District State Representative, Cindy Gamrat, 80th District State Representative, Todd Courser, 82nd District State Representative, Gary Glenn 98th District State Representative, Triston Cole, 105th District State Representative, Lee Chatfield 107th District State Representative.

These victories were hard fought as the Establishment  branch of the party did everything they could to prevent the Tea Party and Christian Conservatives from winning .

In the 3rd Congressional District Brian Ellis, a business man was chosen by the Establishment Republicans to challenge Sophmore and Tea Party Favorite Justin Amash.  Brian Ellis was endorsed by Retiring Congressman Mike Rogers. Rogers had been at odds with Justin Amash over Amash's stance against the NSA spy agency, the NDAA where American's deemed terrorists can be held indefinitely and lose their constitutional rights.  Justin bucked many in his party and voted against the Continuing Resolutions that kept funding Obamacare.   Former Congressman and 2012 Senate Candidate Pete Hoekstra also supported Ellis.  The nastiness in the campaign was so bad that yesterday at his victory party Justin told Brian Ellis and Pete Hoekstra how he really felt.  

"Brian Ellis, you owe my family and this community an apology," Amash said. "You had the audacity to try to call me today after running a campaign that was called 'the nastiest in the country.' "I ran for office to stop people like you."

"I want to say to lobbyist Pete Hoekstra, you're a disgrace," said Amash, noting the former U.S. representative who appeared in a TV ad for Ellis. "I'm glad we can hand you one more loss before you fade into total obscurity and irrelevance."

In the 107th District the Establishment was so desperate to keep power and their Representative Frank Foster that they courted the Democrat party and asked for their help to take a stand against the Tea Party.

Chatfield's challenge came as a result of Foster's overall liberal voting record (Obamacare-Medicaid expansion, Common Core) but primarily his advocacy for the homosexual activists' top agenda item.

Gary Glenn who is a strong voice for marriage between a man and a woman also won his seat easily. In the race in the 98th Gary Glenn's religious beliefs were attacked for his Christian beliefs on gay marriage. Former Michigan Gubernatorial  Dick Devos' family donated heavily to Glenn's opponent and Devos' right hand man, Greg McKnielly, Dick Devos' right hand man and who quickly got married to his gay partner when the window for gay marriage was briefly opened earlier this year, also worked hard against Glenn.

In the 44th House District there was no love lost between conservative favorite Jim Runestad, who has a conservative record to stand on, versus Liz Fessler Smith, a relative new comer that came from a rocky political family , rose quickly through the ranks and was supported by many Establishment Republicans. 

Liz Fessler Smith stated to tea party members  and Christian Conservatives that she was conservative while at the same time she had committed to amending the Elliott-Larsen Act to include special protections for sexual orientation.  Many false accusations were thrown at Jim, including calling him a racist, which many know to be farthest from the truth.  The police were also called on the Fessler Smith campaign at a precinct in White Lake for what some perceived as voter intimidation.  However one Facebook user advised that Ms. Fessler-Smith decided to post on her facebook wall that the police were called on her opponent.

In Michigan the campaign finance reports where due on July 25th,2014, but as of this writing no complete campaign filing has been given to the Michigan Election Commission.  As previously reported Ms. Fessler Smith stated that her campaign finance information was stolen out of her mother's car the day it was due. 

Former candidates for Michigan Republican Chair and Vice Chair, Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat also won their respect races and one can only wonder what will happen in the State House once they team up again should they when in November.

Overall with all the drama, the Establishment Republicans who have had their hands in pockets of those that support Common Core, Medicaid Expansion, and the gay marriage agenda to a hit with the election of Christian Tea Party Candidates yesterday.

One can not hide from their past. Michigan's Republican's have let many of their supporters down by siding with the liberals and helping push their agenda of bigger government through higher taxes, more regulations and less freedoms.

In Michigan's 8th District, both Mike Bishop and Tom McMillin, are the two Republican candidates vying for the office of Congressman for that district.  The scorecard covers the years from 2009 to 2010 when both served in the Michigan Legislature.  Mike Bishop is accusing Tom McMillin of not being conservative and a tax and spend politician.  Well if one reviews the scorecard it is quite apparent to see why the Lansing based news service MIRS rated Mike Bishop - MOST LIBERAL (2008) and Tom McMillin - MOST CONSERVATIVE (2009).

One has to ask why Mike Bishop, who says he is conservative, has Mike Rogers campaigning for him? Mike Rogers has been for the NSA, NDAA, CIPSA, and SOPA.  All government agencies and laws that spy and restrict freedoms of the citizens of this country.   

Tom McMillin is against the NSA, NDAA, CIPSA, and SOPA.  Tom McMillin also calls for the audit of the Federal Reserve as well as reigning in the IRS.  

When one see the voting records side by side, it becomes quite apparent who the true Conservative.
