The question of the night was whether Ted Cruz would honor his word and support the nominee or earn the moniker “Lyin Ted” given to him by the man who won. The question was whether Cruz would make his speech about HIS future or the future of the country. And that question was answered when Ted Cruz chose to not keep his word that he (along with me and every other GOP candidate) gave one year ago in that very arena where tonight he put his own ambitions above country.

Donald Trump did something no previous nominee has done—he allowed Ted Cruz to speak without his promising to support the nominee. I’ve spoken at every convention since 1992, and I can attest to the fact that no one got near that stage without supporting the nominee. Trump trusted Ted and was rewarded with a betrayal, but the delegates in that arena booed Cruz off the stage and out of Cleveland.

I’m certain that many of you will react harshly and angrily to my words. So be it. But when a person gives his word, he should keep it. When a person is treated with generosity to give a speech, he should either respond with respect or graciously decline. And when a person loses, he should accept the will of the voters and then offer support to the victor of the primary to defeat the anti-gun, pro-abortion, incompetent, dishonest, and dishonorable nominee of the Democrat party.

So fire away with your comments, Facebook Friends. But from where I sit, I didn’t see a statesman step forth for the country’s future. I saw a self-absorbed politician grab the microphone and try to line up his own future. Ted walked in tall and walked out small.

Kim Davis Free From Prison - At Least For Now

Mike Huckabee was there to greet Kim Davis as she was set free.  hopes his next home will be the White House, but he's willing to go to the Big House, if it keeps Rowan County clerk Kim Davis free.

The 2016 Republican presidential candidate said in a rally this afternoon that if U.S. District Judge David Bunning wants to jail someone for refusing to issue marriage licenses, he would gladly take Davis' place.

"I have a message for the judge, and I say this with all my heart," Huckabee said this afternoon.

"Let Kim go, but if you have to put someone in jail, I volunteer to go. Let me go. Lock me up, if you think that is how freedom is best served," he said.

"I am willing to spend the next eight years in the White House leading this country, but I want you to know I'm willing to spend the next eight years in jail," he told the crowd. "But I'm not willing to spend one day under the tyranny of people who believe they can take our liberty and conscience away!"

The line brought roars of appreciation from supporters from the local area, where Davis was elected county clerk last November - a post her mother held for 36 years.

Huckabee made a point to mention that Davis is "an elected Democrat."

"I don't want people to think this is an issue about Republicans and Democrats, because it was a Republican judge who put her in this jail to begin with," he said.

He then addressed the newly freed Kim Davis, who was released from prison this afternoon. "Kim, we will stand with the Constitution, and we will stand with our faith, and we will not be bullied even if they incarcerate us," he said.

But as the rally revealed, Davis' next collision with the law may come in just a matter of days.

Judge Bunning, the son of former U.S. Sen. Jim Bunning, released Davis today with the condition that she not "interfere in any way" with her subordinates, who have been issuing marriage licenses to homosexuals since last Friday.

Her legal counsel said she will go back to work later this week, but no more licenses will be given to same-sex couples.

"She will not abandon her post at that position she's been democratically elected to serve," her attorney, Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver, told the large crowd outside the Carter County Detention Center in Grayson, Kentucky, where Davis spent the last six days.

Inside the jail, Davis "was freer than most Americans, because she wasn't in that jail cell alone," he said. "Kim Davis is a free woman, but her conscience did not change to get freedom."

"She will not resign that position," he said. And "she cannot let her name be associated with something that conflicts with God's definition of marriage."

Calls to obey conscience echoed off the detention facility's walls, as a distinguished lineup of speakers - who had already been scheduled to demand Davis' release - spoke in celebration of her possibly temporary freedom.

Former HGTV star-in-waiting David Benham - who attended the rally with his brother Jason - said, "Today we stand with Kim, but tomorrow we must all stand like Kim and not back down." Their father, pro-life advocate Rev. Flip Benham, helped arrange a demonstration in the area, as well.

Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, said, "The way we keep our freedom is we use our freedom."

"Peace comes through strength," he said. "Given the crisis our nation is facing, the time of being spectators is over."

Matt Bevin, the Republican who ran for governor in the last election cycle, said Christians must also vote together. "The minority is winning over the majority, because the majority sits on its hands and doesn't go to the ballot box," he said.

But the biggest applause line was uttered by the Davis herself, who spoke briefly but powerfully near the end of the hour-long rally.

"I love you guys so much!" she said, choking back tears.

Staver alluded to the fact that many of her tears had been caused by harsh personal attacks made by those on the Left, who "wanted to talk about her past marriages. They wanted to talk about her past failings," but there's "a new Kim Davis now," one who has "experienced the grace of Jesus Christ."

Despite her imprisonment, Davis "does not consider herself a martyr. She does not consider herself a hero. She considers herself Kim Davis: a faithful servant of Jesus Christ."

Donald Trump Takes Commanding Double Digit Lead In New Poll

The Establishment branch of the Republican Party is in desperation mode right now and is beginning to realize that Jeb is doing it for them. Jeb has moved into 3^rd place behind 2^nd place Scott Walker. 

Donald Trump has taken his biggest lead to date and many are agreeing with the Donald that John McCain is now a war hero but someone who should have been court martialed for aiding the enemy during the Vietnam War.   

In a new nationwide poll done by the Washington Post and ABC News, Donald Trump is soaring over his GOP rivals.  The poll was conducted amid his “media manipulated” controversial comments about Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) “war hero” status.

According to the just-released poll, Trump — with 24 percent support among likely Republican voters — holds a comfortable, double-digit lead over nearest competitor Scott Walker, who captures 13 percent support.

Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, and Sen. Marco Rubio round up the top 5 with 12, 8, and 7 percentage points of support, respectively. Sen. Rand Paul, meanwhile, sits in sixth place with 5 percentage points.

Mike Huckabee Leaves Fox News Considering A Run For President

In an unexpected, the final episode of “Huckabee”  that aired tonight. The former Governor announced he is leaving Fox News as he explores a presidential run.

His formal announcement will not come until May, but Huckabee will begin campaigning in Iowa, NH and SC.

He said "There has been a great deal of speculation as to whether I would run for President.

"I won't make a decision about running until late in the spring of 2015, but the continued chatter has put Fox News into a position that is not fair to them.

"The honorable thing to do at this point is to end my tenure here at Fox so I can openly talk with potential donors and supporters and gauge support.

"As much as I have loved doing the show, I love my country more, and feel it may be time for me to leave a zone of comfort to engage in the conflicts that have almost destroyed the bedrock foundations of America. I feel compelled to ascertain if the support exists strongly enough for another Presidential run. So as we say in television, stay tuned!"

Huckabee began hosting the program in September, 2008, months after he dropped out the race for the 2008 GOP nomination.

In 2011, he teased on the May 14 episode of “Huckabee” that he would make a big announcement.

At the time it was thought Huckabee would jump into the 2012 presidential race. Instead, the announcement was that he would be staying with Fox News.

Fox News executives have made it clear in the past, that any host or contributor who is eyeing a presidential run would have to step aside from the network. Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum were both contributors when, in March 2011, Fox News suspended their contracts as they sought the GOP presidential nomination.

“Huckabee” is usually the most-watched show on Fox News on the weekends. Fox News has confirmed the network has amicably parted ways with Huckabee.
