Is A New Poll Favoring LGBT, Marijuana and Gov Snyder Legit?

A new poll conducted by the Glengariff Group says Michigan voters approve of gay rights, legalized marijuana and Gov. Rick Snyder. 

Who is the Glengariff Group?  And who do you think they polled?  I will tell you in a little bit but first here is the poll WDIV TV in Detroit and The Detroit News is posting

The 600-person representative sample of state voters, Lansing leaders and Michigan residents found that participants have different views on gay rights.

 Voters support same sex marriage by a margin of 55.5 percent to 32.5 percent. This support level is statistically identical to levels in surveys conducted in 2012 and 2014. By a margin of 61.4 percent to 27.3 percent, Michigan voters support recognizing same sex marriages in Michigan if they are performed in other states and the couple were to move to Michigan.

  Michiganders also overwhelmingly support expanding the Elliot-Larsen Act to include protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered residents for housing and employment by a 77 percent to 17.9 percent margin. Even Strong Republican voters support expansion by a margin of 70.8 percent to 22.0 percent. Voters over the age of 65 support expansion by a margin of 76.9 percent to 18.0 percent.

 Michigan voters unequivocally oppose ‘Religious Freedom’ legislation that would allow a business to deny service to a customer based on their religious beliefs by an overwhelming 18.5 percent to 76.5 percent margin.

 A solid majority, 56.1 percent, of Michigan voters support legalizing and taxing small amount of marijuana for adults over the age of 21 years old, while 35.7 percent oppose legalization.

 The Glegariff poll also exposed generational disagreement on the issue. While voters under 30 years old support passage by a margin of 73.7 percent to 15.1 percent, voters over the age of 65 oppose passage by a margin of 39.2 percent to 51.3 percent.

 Voters also approve of the performance of Governor Rick Snyder by a margin of 55.1 percent to 39.3 percent, representing Snyder’s highest job approval performance to date.

 However, the state legislature remains unpopular. By a margin of 34.3 percent to 50.0 percent, Michigan voters disapprove of the performance of the State Legislature.
 

So who is the Glengariff group?  Well here is who they are based on their basic website and this information is quite telling as to why you cannot trust the above poll:

 In 1987 Richard became Director of Research for the Pete Dawkins for U.S. Senate campaign in New Jersey. As Director of Research for the nation’s most hotly contested race, Richard oversaw the campaign’s research functions including coordination and writing of all candidate position statements, survey research work, and all campaign research.

  In 1989 Richard returned to the Michigan Republican State Committee and soon became the Director of Research and Communications, melting his research background with marketing and communications strategic planning.

 In 1990 Governor-Elect John Engler named Richard as the Transition Team Leader for the Michigan Department of Social Services. Upon completion of this assignment, Richard was asked to complete the transition team report for the Michigan Department of Transportation.

 Also as Director of Planning and Public Affairs, Richard was responsible for executing communication efforts for significant administration initiatives such as the funding of Tiger Stadium, the state of Michigan’s first nationwide economic marketing campaign, and all economic development publicity for the state of Michigan.

 In 1999 Governor Engler named Richard the Director of Travel Michigan, where he created a new image and public relations campaign for the State of Michigan.

 Even more troubling is that the Glengariff Group is the go to polling company for the ultra liberal Daily Kos.

Based on the connections to the old guard in the Michigan Republican Party that are looking to push the LGBT Agenda as they do not know how to fight it and would rather concede to win rather than stick up for values and the fact that the poll favors Gov . Snyder  one has to wonder if the marijuana question was put in to try to make this poll legit.  

The poll just says 600 were surveyed but yet who were the ones surveyed?  Was it the old guard establishment Republicans and their minions?  What where the demographics and occupations of those polled?

Could this poll be two fold, to try to make people believe that the majority support the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual,  Transgender crusade  and to prop Gov Snyder back up after the embarrassing Proposal 1 road tax defeat so he can make another attempt at President or be a presidential vice president candidate?  Perhaps for his rumored favorite Jeb Bush?

Matt Marsden, spokesman for the Michigan Cannabis Coalition sited in that article "Legalize pot, 56% in Mich. poll say" was the chief of staff for former Senate Majority leader Randy Richardville until he had a public tiff with Senator Rick Jones! He was then reassigned within the Richardville "team" and former Governor Jennifer Granholm's staffer Amber McCann was brought in to replace Marsden as chief of staff! Oh the webs they weave.

Elliot Larsen Expansion "Dead For Now", Bill Sponsor Frank Foster Couldn't Defend Expansion

IT'S DEAD FOR NOW,...NOT enough support to get the expansion of the Elliot Larsen Civil Rights Act (to include LGBT individuals) passed out of Commerce Committee!!! - Stated a joyful Antrim Republican County Chair (Trucker) Randy Bishop. 

 Another activist, Minister Stacy Swimp went on his page to report :

Dear Saints of God:

The proposed expansion of Michigan's civil rights laws to include “sexual orientation” legislation was defeated today in the MI House Commerce Committee.

The Bill did not have enough votes to successfully pass and go forward.

It is not necessarily a final victory, as the homosexual agenda will continue fighting for legitimacy.

However, it was a significant win for the kingdom of God, for religious freedom, and even for Biblical marriage.

Only three people were called and permitted an opportunity to testify in opposition to this Bill today.

I was blessed to one of the three.

I also submitted 30 copies of written testimony opposing the proposed Bill which sought to expand our State Civil Rights Bill by adding "“sexual orientation” to it, as though sexual behavior is a "civil right".

As I testified, you could sense the entire tone of the meeting drastically changed,.As I used empirical data to destroy the false comparison of "gay rights" with civil rights.

Even the pro homosexual Chairperson, Republican Frank Foster was flustered and attempted to defend what he could not prove when I asked him "Can you site a singular case to support your claims of discrimination against homosexuals?"

He, after unsuccessfully tying to change the real issue (I didn't allow that!), responded:

"We'll get that to you"

Don't bet on it!

Elliot-Larsen Expansion Will Cause Charities And Businesses To Close And Will Allow Additional Lawsuits And Fines

Have you heard about the Christian couple in New York who were fined $13,000 for refusing to host a homosexual wedding in their home? Or the New Mexico photographer fined $6,600 for refusing as a matter of conscience to photograph a lesbian wedding?

Currently there are two homosexual "rights" bills in the state House of Representatives that similarly threaten religious freedom here in Michigan.

Democrats in Lansing have introduced House Bill 5804, which would create special protection for individuals who engage in homosexual behavior or cross-dressing, giving men who claim to be women the "right" to use women's restrooms, locker rooms, and showers. Read the Democrats' bill here.

And outgoing Republican Rep. Frank Foster, who lost in his primary because of intention of expanding Elliot-Larson, still

introduced House Bill 5959, which would enact a law identical to other states that have been used to persecute, punish, fine, and discriminate against Christian photographers, bakers, florists and others who refuse as a matter of faith to provide professional services to homosexual weddings. Foster's bill is also...

• Identical to laws that ban Catholic Charities from referring children for adoption because they won't refer children to homosexual couples.
• Identical to laws that ban the Boy Scouts from using public parks and campgrounds because the Scouts don't allow openly homosexual Scoutmasters.
• Identical to laws that prohibit the Salvation Army from bidding on government contracts to serve the poor, because it doesn't allow homosexual clergy. 

Faith Based Citizens For Traditional Values Joins Fight To Stop LGBT Agenda

Faith based organization Citizens For Traditional Values, joins the fight to stop the wrong expansion of the Elliot-Larsen Civil Rights Act which is being pushed by outgoing State Representative Frank Foster.  Frank Foster (28 yrs old)

Representing the 107th District

lost his bid for re-election in the primary over this issue.  He is determined to push it through against the will of his constituents.   Below is a copy of CTV press release outlining the damages the expansion will cause. 

For many years, Citizens for Traditional Values CTV has been working with lawmakers and other concerned citizens to oppose amending the Michigan Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act (MCL 37.2102) to include “sexual orientation” as a special protected class.
Unfortunately, Republican State Representative Frank Foster has introduced House Bill 5959 which would do just that.

All one needs to do is look at other states that have passed similar legislation to see what will be coming to Michigan. Christian business owners in Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, New York, Colorado, and other states are facing fines, legal action, and potentially the loss of their businesses, all for simply exercising their religious freedom and rights of conscience.

These situations WILL come to Michigan if the Foster bill passes.We believe that Government should not pass laws that give special status or guarantee special protections for some, but punish others. Every citizen of Michigan has the right to live free, including family business owners. Lawmakers should  not use their power to coerce or force a citizen of Michigan, under the threat of punishment, to surrender their constitutionally protected freedoms.

In addition, Speaker of the House Jase Bolger has introduced House Bill 5958, entitled the Michigan Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), which is intended to “balance” the detrimental consequences of the Foster bill. While not legislatively “tie-barred” together, they are being sold by Speaker Bolger’s office as one package. The best way, however, to protect religious liberty is to reject the Foster bill and the damage it will cause.

Therefore, CTV stands OPPOSED to the expansion of Elliott-Larsen.However, although protecting religious freedom is important for Michigan, the RFRA bill as written is weak and deserves much more consideration than can be accomplished in a short lame-duck legislative session.

Michigan NewsPaper Conglomerate Refuses To Post Conservative Editorial To A Controversial Bill

MLIVE.com is a conglomerate of numerous newspapers throughout Michigan.  The media news corp has denied a counterpoint of view in their newspaper.  

MLIVE has news staffers such as Ken Braun that have been promoting homosexuality and the Elliot-Larsen Act however when Paul Mitchell, Chairman of The Faith & Freedom Coalition of Michigan wrote an editorial countering the expansion of Elliot-Larson, he was turned down. by the editorial director Jen Eyer.  The following was the editorial by Paul Mitchell:

 In 1976, the 'Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act' was signed into law in Michigan. In short, the law prohibits discrimination in employment and a variety of other economic transactions because of religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, familial status or marital status. Whether it be to hire or fire someone, deprive someone of employment opportunity after being hired, classify or reclassify the individual when it comes to promotions and demotions or extend benefits and retirement; the 'Elloitt Larsen Civil Rights Act' was established to define protections for workers based on potential discrimination.
 Recently, there has been a push from some within the legislature and some major corporations to expand the 'Elliott Larsen Civil Rights Act' to include lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender individuals within its definition of protections. However, many oppose this. And, there's a reason why...
 The expansion of the Ellott Larsen Civil Rights Act to include sexual orientation opens the proverbial 'Pandora's box' and puts Michigan's small and family businesses at substantial risk.
 This is not about acceptance or even rights for that matter. Federal law (which supercedes state law) already bans discrimination of transgender people and 'non-conforming people.' Make no mistake. This is about trial lawyers and litigation. This is about workplace policy and the potential exploitation of it. This is about major corporations with a team of lawyers being able to withstand the storm while 'Mom and Pop' small business owners risk losing everything trying to defend themselves against the mere claim of discrimination. The moment this expansion passes, tens of thousands of Michigan small business owners will placed directly in the crosshairs of anyone wishing to game the system or claim discrimination. And those crosshairs do not stop at simply employment related claims. In fact, should this expansion pass the legislature and be signed into law, they should call it what it really is: 'The Full Employment Act for Labor Lawyers.'
 Discrimination laws, and enforcement, have been based upon establishing protected classes defined by very clear characteristics. The problem with establishing the LBGT community as a protected class is it would establish a protected class that is not clear and readily definable. It's not as if someone walks around with a sign around their neck indicating their sexual preference.
 In most employment situations, one's sexual preference is never discussed or disclosed – as it should be. However, once hired, the proposed expansion can do fatal damage to small business owners. Since sexual orientation is not clear, any disgruntled employee could use it as a weapon ONLY by making the claim. No evidence, trial or finding of fact. The mere accusation can lead to a formal regulatory process leading to litigation. If you're a business owner and want to fight a claim you believe to be false, CourtStatistics.org estimates fighting that claim through a full trial would be a median cost of $88,000. This is why few claims ever make it to trial – there is too a great of a cost. In fact, a study conducted by the American Bar Foundation found that from 1987 through 2003, only 6 percent of these cases ever go to trial.
 We, as citizens, decry the massive increase in healthcare costs but few realize the impact of the cost of malpractice insurance which doctors must pay as a preventative measure from frivolous lawsuits. Have we not learned our lesson? If successful, this effort will cost everyone financially, and will cost jobs in Michigan.
