Dr. Joseph Guzman: The Right Choice For Administrative Vice-Chair

Dr Joseph Guzman and Family
There is no doubt on experience for Administrative Vice-Chair of the Michigan Republican Party that  Dr. Joseph Guzman by far has the best resume of  all the candidates applying for the position, followed by the  incumbent Dave Wolkinson.  One of the candidates, not sure if he is seriously running or doing this as a joke, passed out his resume of a picture of him with a Hollywood actor.

Because of his impressive resume and background,   Dr. Joseph Guzman get's my endorsement.

As stated the second best option would be Dave Wolkinson, should a 2nd round  vote occur and Guzman is out.

 Here is Dr. Guzman's resume:

Dr. Joseph Guzman has enjoyed an expansive career in higher education and public service. In addition to a Ph.D. in Economic Analysis and Policy from Stanford University, Dr. Guzman holds advanced degrees in economics, statistics and business research from Stanford together with an MBA and an undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Arizona.

Dr. Guzman has volunteered and assisted with political campaigns running the spectrum from local and national. In the spirit of service, he has demonstrated little regard for titles, standing or recognition – but every regard for political success. As an example, most recently, Dr. Guzman volunteered at MIGOP HQ during the Governor’s race and also developed a multi-faceted proposal for an MIGOP Hispanic Advisory, that is already being  implemented.

In support of Presidential races, Dr. Guzman and his wife hosted the kickoff fundraiser for Victory 2004 in Loudoun County, Virginia. He also participated in the development of the Romney campaign’s Hemispheric Energy Policy, a document commissioned in 2012.

At the state level, Dr. Guzman was a local lead for RNC GOTV pilot efforts that became known as the “72-Hour Task Force.” He was also a local Precinct Captain for ten years and assisted with many local campaigns. Dr. Guzman enjoys a well deserved reputation as the “Yard-Sign Champ” for his prolific success in the placement of placards.

Dr. Guzman’s prior work at the Pentagon included serving as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy in the Office of Financial Management & Comptroller, as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force and as Director of the Department of Defense Biometric Management Office. He was twice awarded Civilian Service Medals in recognition of his contributions to the Department of Defense.

At Michigan State, where Dr. Guzman is an Associate Professor, his academic research focuses on policy and implementation. His policy research career includes having served as a Think Tank economist with the Center for Naval Analyses and the RAND Corporation.

Dr. Guzman co-founded a national economics society (ASHE) and served seven years as Vice President of the Step-Up Now Scholarship Foundation in Alexandria, Virginia. He also represented his community as an elected representative to the school board for two four-year terms.

Dr. Guzman has served on numerous boards and commissions, including appointments by the Virginia legislature to the board of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and as a Commissioner to the Education Commission of the States. Dr. Guzman has been named one of the countryʼs top 100 Hispanic Influentials and has also received recognitions from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the US-Mexico Chamber of Commerce for his work advancing the implementation of biometrics technologies.

Dr. and Mrs. Guzman, his bride of 23 years, live in Okemos, where together they are dedicated to raising and educating their five beautiful children.
