Could the end be near for conservative radio talkers Frank Beckman, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage and Mark Levine on Detroit Radio?  WJR 760 AM is in serious contention to become a sports station and is looking to reclaim the broadcast rights for the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings.

WJR's re-entry into Tigers radio discussions indicates the station is

serious about returning to a sports landscape it once dominated. The Tigers were a WJR staple from 1964-2000, when a 50,000-watt station, with its clear channel (no other stations enjoy a frequency of 760) could be heard in 35 states and half of Canada.

At issue for the Tigers and any potential radio partner are raw rights fees, which are affected by ratings that have soared dramatically during the past decade.

With a string of four consecutive division championships, and two World Series appearances in the past nine years, Tigers broadcast ratings — television and radio — have rocketed. The Tigers own the second-highest ratings, per capita, of any market in the major leagues.

Sony E-Mail Hack: Black James Bond? Rush Limbaugh Speaks Out Against

One of the many secrets revealed in the Sony email hack was a discussion about the possibility of Idris Elba, a black actor, playing James Bond after Daniel Craig decides it time for him to move on. “Idris should be the next bond,” Sony co-chair Amy Pascal wrote in an email, referring to the British

star of Luther and The Wire.

Rush Limbaugh discussed this yesterday on his show:

  

“James Bond is a fictional character, obviously,” Rush told the listeners of the spy character created by Ian Fleming. “He was white and Scottish, period.”

“I know it’s racist to probably even point this out,” but the franchise needs to get with it!We had 50 years of white Bonds because Bond was white!” said Rush

Rush then suggested the casting would be analogous to casting George Clooney and Kate Hudson as President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. Or how about Kelsey Grammar as Nelson Mandela? He then suggested Rob Reiner as “early” Al Sharpton. And George C. Scott (who’s dead) as Colin Powell and Scarlett Johansson as Condoleezza Rice. And so on…

I get what Rush is saying. He isn't racist  Some characters can be interchangeable with race and some can not.  For example Denzel Washington did a fine job playing Edward Woodward's old role of the movie remake of the TV show "The Equalizer"  But James Bond is British, and yes there are black Brits but when you watch Bond you feel like he is part of the Royal family kicking the bad guys you know whats.  What would the outrage be if the movie Shaft was remade with a white person?  What makes both Bond and Shaft so special is their ethnicity.  It isn't racism but believabllity.

Among its biggest hosts are Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage (who recently replaced  Sean Hannity and Mark Levin — the very first winner of CPAC’s “Andrew Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment” award.

 And now Cumulus is giving  a non-experienced host a seat at the table, Congressman Mike Rogers. As CEO Lew Dickey said, “We are thrilled to have Chairman Rogers join our team. He has been instrumental in helping to shape many of the most important issues and events of our time and will play a significant role in our expanding content platform.”

It’s also a perfect platform for Congressman Rogers to spin tales of shadowy plots, sing the praises of the NSA and, if he is so inclined, to beat his own drum in anticipation of a possible presidential run. But that may just be Mike dreaming an impossible dream.
