When the question is asked, "Should the government...?",
the answer should always be no.
Tonya Schuitmaker |
Michigan Senator Tonya Schuitmaker, who is rumored to be considering a run for Michigan Attorney General, wants hundreds of thousands of people to be able to jump in and help during a medical emergency.
"It's important to make sure that they have live-saving
skills which will last a lifetime," she said. That's why she introduced a
bill that would require students to learn CPR before they can graduate.
While the bill maybe a noble act by Senator Shuitmaker, you can't force someone to save another's life. This is potentially what this bill may lead to. A CPR course should be offered as an elective but not mandatory.
