Jeanine Pirro Walks Back Threats to Arrest Lawful Gun Owners After Second Amendment Backlash

WASHINGTON — U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro moved to clarify and partially retract sweeping remarks about gun possession in the nation’s capital after fierce backlash from Second Amendment advocates, conservative lawmakers, and gun-rights organizations.

During a Fox News appearance earlier this week, Pirro stated unequivocally that anyone bringing a firearm into Washington, D.C. — regardless of licensure in another jurisdiction — should expect to be arrested.

“A gun into the District, you mark my words, you’re going to jail,” Pirro said. “I don’t care if you have a license in another district and I don’t care if you’re a law-abiding gun owner somewhere else.”

The remarks triggered immediate outrage from gun-rights groups, who argued that Pirro’s statement misrepresented District law and suggested criminal enforcement against lawful firearm owners exercising constitutionally protected rights.

Within 24 hours, Pirro appeared to retreat from the absolutist tone of her comments. In a post on X, she said she was “a proud supporter of the Second Amendment” and clarified that D.C. law requires firearms to be licensed with the Metropolitan Police Department in order to be carried legally within the city.

“We are focused on individuals who are unlawfully carrying guns,” Pirro wrote, adding that her office would continue targeting illegal firearms to “keep our communities safe.”

Gun-Rights Groups Reject Clarification

Second Amendment organizations were unconvinced by Pirro’s clarification, calling her original comments revealing and dangerous.

The National Association of Gun Rights labeled Pirro’s remarks “unacceptable and intolerable,” accusing her of treating constitutional rights as optional.

“Jeanine Pirro threatening to arrest people shows how broken and out of touch these gun laws are,” the group said in a statement. “Bureaucrats act like the Second Amendment does not exist and brag about jailing people for exercising their rights.”

Gun Owners of America echoed the criticism, noting that concealed carry permit holders are statistically among the most law-abiding segments of the population.

“We are not the problem,” the organization said.

Republican lawmakers also weighed in. Rep. Greg Steube of Florida publicly challenged Pirro’s remarks, stating that he carries a firearm into Washington legally every week under valid permits.

“I have a license in Florida and D.C. to carry,” Steube wrote. “And I will continue to carry to protect myself and others.”

Political Context: Pretti Shooting Fallout

Pirro’s comments come amid broader controversy surrounding the Trump administration’s response to the fatal shooting of ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.

Pretti was killed on Jan. 24 while protesting ICE enforcement actions. He was lawfully carrying a firearm at the time, which he reportedly never brandished, according to witness testimony. His death was later ruled a homicide by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

President Donald Trump publicly criticized Pretti for being armed, stating, “I don’t like that he had a gun.” Other senior administration officials made similar remarks suggesting that carrying a firearm at a protest increases culpability or “assumption of risk.”

Second Amendment advocates argue these statements undermine long-standing Republican messaging on gun rights and due process.

GOP Warned of Midterm Consequences

According to POLITICO, gun-rights leaders are warning Republican strategists that continued rhetoric casting lawful gun ownership as suspect could depress turnout among core conservative voters in the 2026 midterms.

“All it takes is losing four to six percent of the base,” said Dudley Brown, president of the National Association of Gun Rights. “Especially in marginal districts, that’s enough to lose control of the House.”

One anonymous advocate told the outlet that frustration within the gun-rights community is escalating, warning that delayed corrections would be politically ineffective.

“He can’t correct it three months before the election,” the advocate said. “They won’t come out and vote.”

Legislative Push on Carry Reciprocity

The controversy has renewed attention on pending legislation aimed at standardizing gun-carry laws nationwide.

Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky has introduced the National Constitutional Carry Act, which would prohibit federal, state, and local penalties for eligible individuals carrying firearms without permits across state lines.

A separate bill sponsored by Rep. Richard Hudson would require states to recognize concealed carry permits issued by other states, allowing firearms to be carried loaded for self-defense. The measure already has more than 120 Republican co-sponsors and one Democratic supporter.

Trump has said he would sign such legislation if it reaches his desk.

A Broader Signal

While Pirro’s walk-back stopped short of an apology, the episode has intensified scrutiny of how aggressively the administration and its appointees are willing to test the boundaries of gun law enforcement — and whether rhetoric alone can fracture a coalition that Republicans have long relied on for electoral success.

For Second Amendment advocates, the concern is no longer just policy, but intent.

And for the GOP, the warning is blunt: alienate lawful gun owners, and the political consequences may arrive sooner than expected.

Ted Cruz Loses Big Endorsement Over Comments On Donald Trump And Chicago Riots

Ted Cruz lost a major endorsement today over his comments on the riots in Chicago that cancelled Donald Trump's rally in that city.   Cruz,  John Kasich and Marco Rubio all blamed Trump for the violence in Chicago.

Today conservative leader, speaker and 2nd amendment advocate, Jan Morgan pulled her endorsement of Ted Cruz and basically call him a con-artist when she said that she was angry at herself for falling for his act.

Here is her official statement:

I have officially withdrawn my endorsement and support for Ted Cruz.
His decision to blame Trump for the actions of liberal lunatic protestors in Chicago is unconscionable. He should have used this opportunity to take a stand for free speech.

Instead, he sides with the protestors and lies about Trump saying he encourages violence. (never mind the fact that his own right hand campaign buddy, Glenn Beck was investigated by Secret Service for joking on air about repeatedly stabbing Trump) (thats different of course) This is the most outrageous and desperate thing I have seen a candidate do in this race. I have made a grave mistake by misreading this man and his character. This was the final straw in a week of issues I have had with Cruz and his decisions. Donald Trump will win this nomination in spite of the establishment GOP, in spite of their new boy, Cruz, their old boy, Romney... And, I predict if the GOP establishment tries to jack with the people's choice, Trump will pull out, run 3rd party, and will still win the general election. Call me enraged tonight.

I can not believe I fell for this act.

Oops Newspaper Error Says Shooter Not Crazed Driver Kills 4, Injures 30

Yesterday the Traverse City, Michigan Record Eagle made a huge error on a headline where they stated that the 4 killed and 30 injured at the Homecoming parade in Oklahoma was due to a shooter and not a driver, that was either crazed or perhaps suffered a medical emergency.

Many conservative outlets are calling this biased reporting and not taking the Record Eagles retraction as sincere.

The conservative outlets and national conservative pundits need to realize that the Traverse City Record Eagle is not a newspaper with a massive circulation.  In 2012 it's circulation was less than 28,000.  Hardly a newspaper you would use to spread false propaganda.

The Traverse City Record Eagle said it was a design error, which I take as truth.  The designer obviously was distracted when putting this headline together or did not bother to take the time to read the story while in the design process.  The designer assumed it was a shooter based on his/her individual perception.  It is highly unlikely that it was anything more than that.

Northern Michigan is more conservative than liberal and is known as hunters' country.

Fact: More Guns Lead To Safer Communities

On August 28, the NRA tweeted, “Since ’91, Americans have
acquired over 170 million new firearms and violent crimes have declined by 51%.”

This tweet was based on data from the  ATF and FBI data showing Americans have purchased “170 million new guns” since 1991, and violent crime has fallen “51 percent.”

The findings of a Congressional Research Service (CRS) study covering the slightly shorter period of time from 1994 to 2009 found for those years, CRS found that Americans purchased approximately 118 million firearms, and the 1993 “firearm-related murder and non-negligent homicide” rate of 6.6 per 100,000 fell to 3.6 per 100,000 by the year 2000. It eventually fell all the way to 3.2 per 100,000 in 2011.

That is more than a 50 percent reduction in “firearm-related murder and non-negligent homicide.”

The studies have proved that more guns equals less crime. Americans have purchased “170 million new guns” since 1991, and violent crime has decreased as gun ownership has increased.

Michigan Senate Bill 422 : A Sloppy Mess That Takes Away Gun Rights

What is Senate Bill 422?

The bill will create an exemption to concealed carry pistol
Rick Ector
Rick Ector
Rick's Firearm Academy
free zones (PFZ) in MCL 28.425o. Any CPL holder can qualify for the exemption upon request with no additional training. New and renewal applicants will not be charged any additional fee. Clerks can charge current CPL holders up to $20 for a replacement CPL with the exemption box checked.

The bill would prohibit a person from intentionally displaying (open carrying) a firearm on the premises of a pistol free zone in MCL 28.425o unless the person is the owner or employee of the premises or has the express written consent of the owner. This is the “concealed means concealed” clause with an exemption for express consent on private property. We feel the language in the bill is sufficient to protect people printing or accidentally exposing their firearms.

Private property owners can continue to prevent all forms of carry under Michigan trespass law. Public property will continue to be preempted by state firearms law, meaning that concealed carry with the exemption cannot be prohibited on public pistol free zones in MCL 28.425o.

The bill is expected to be referred to Senate Judiciary Committee next week on July 15. Sen. Green has stated that Gov. Snyder has indicated he will sign the bill.

The bill bans open carry in all PFZs in MCL 28.425o, not just schools as was in an earlier draft.

From Tom Lambert of Michigan Open Carry.

MOC opposes SB 422 on more than just a ideological level. Obviously we oppose trading open carry for other things, but our opposition goes beyond that. In summary, this bill is a sloppy mess.
Why have an exemption if everyone can get it upon request? Why make people spend the extra time and money if no training or checking is involved. To us it screams of a mechanism to add extra training. Something we know Senator Green has supported in the past.

How about the enforcement mechanism? SB 442 would take something that is currently lawful and make it punishable with a $500 fine and a 6 month license suspension, then eventually all the way up to a 4 year felony. 4 years in prison and the extermination of the right to even possess a gun just for doing something that has been legal since the founding of the state. All without even the intent of doing something wrong.
It has been stated that there is protection for accidental exposure and “printing”. We disagree. The bill reads “shall not intentionally display or openly carry…”. Having just gotten a bill passed where the placement of the word intentionally was very critical, we firmly believe that language to be very dangerous. Remember, it punishes intentional display OR open carry. Not intentionally display OR intentional open carry. Open carriers know that anti-gun prosecutors will use anything they can. (Note: MCRGO is now commenting that they would like better language too)

There is a ton more, but the last thing I will mention is that SB 442 makes it so the acquisition of a CPL would take away a previously ability. Making this change in 28.425o is absurd because it doesn’t match up with other statues. For example, without a CPL, I would be able to OC in an entertainment facility with a seating capacity of 2500+. However, once I obtain a CPL, then I would lose the ability to OC and would only be allowed to CC. The net effect is an actual loss of rights by obtaining a license. I don’t even want to think about how an officer would enforce this. Establishing RAS to detain and investigate someone would be a mine field.

There is a better way forward than this. Even if we wanted to “swap” there is still a better way to go about that. This has to be the worst way conceivable.
How about we just let the gun groups do what they are here to do. The momentum is in our favor and now is not the time to strike.

Rick Ector, of Rick’s Firearm Acadamey in Detroit and strong 2nd amendment advocate said “You don't outlaw Open Carry anywhere and reasonably expect to get to your destination - Constitutional Carry. Contrary to what some people are selling, it is NOT an advance. It is winning a worthless battle to ensure long-term defeat. There is a word for that. It is called a Pyrrhic Victory. Snyder who took a ton of money from anti Civil Rights icon Michael Bloomberg needs this deal; we don't. No deal beats a bad deal any day of the week. Moreover, if the goal is REALLY more guns in PFZs then just ALSO legalize conceal carry in PFZs. OC would still remain legal, more people would be carrying, and less people would OC. We don't NEED this legislation”   He then continued “Myopic: The issue is bigger than merely being able to open carry a handgun in specified locations. The real issue at stake is the end game. Where exactly are we trying to take gun rights in Michigan? If you believe, as I do, that Constitutional Carry is the ultimate aim then you do not restrict or ban open carry today in any place because it will only hurt you down the road when you are trying to get it back. You never give it up in the first place.

If you are an open carry advocate, it is certainly understandable that you will frame this issue from that vantage point. You will make sure that all know that the places where one can legally open carry will be scarcer in the aftermath. However, by not looking at and recognizing and also talking about the larger picture, you run the risk of erroneously being labeled as selfish. You need to also expand the current discussion to include Constitutional Carry. All gun rights advocates - open, concealed, or both - you can reach need to hear it, especially from you.

If you are a conceal carry advocate, folks will try to intellectually seduce you with talk of "baby steps" progress on the subject of gun rights. The pillow talk will follow along these lines: Since the Governor is on the record for agreeing to sign this (awful) bill should it reach his desk, we should take it, proclaim victory, and fight for another day. Lansing's biggest gun rights foe, Virg Bernero, feigned unhappiness on TV a week ago about Snyder's support for this (awful) bill. I saw through that sham performance as soon as I saw his lips moving.
All it would take to make this would-be "progress" materialize is to throw your open carry brothers and sisters under the bus. You'll rationalize it as collateral damage to those fringe guys who you might be told get great joy from scaring babies at schools. However, the joke would be on us. Banning open carry on any level would paint the practice in the media and in the public consciousness as bad. We might not ever recover politically on that issue in the near future to make a run with a new Governor.
I do not buy for one second that the motivation for this (awful) bill is an imminent need for more legal guns in pistol free zones today. Besides, if you need to carry in a PFZ then do so in accordance with current law - openly with a CPL.

In my humble opinion, Snyder knows that the Constitutional Carry movement would be harmed, perhaps irrevocably, if we went down this road of banning open carry in PFZs. As it stands, we only need a pro-gun Governor. Currently, we have a guy who takes money from Bloomberg. Never trust anybody who takes money from Bloomberg. We wait him out. Anything can happen.

If we really need more legal guns in PFZs, then we either need to eliminate them altogether or legalize conceal carry in them - without throwing open carry now and Constitutional Carry down the road under the bus. The Baby Steps Crowd will tell you that Snyder won't sign it. Fine - no deal is better than a bad deal.

The game being ran on us is divide and conquer with a familiar face telling us to take a bad deal because we need a "victory" now. Well, we don't. The status quo is fine if we don't sacrifice the end game. To do that, we keep open carry legal in PFZs with a CPL.

Constitutional Carry is the goal. Never forget that.”

Catholic Pastor: Get Your Concealed Weapons Permit

Exodus 22:2-3New International Version (NIV)

2 “If a thief is caught breaking in at night and is struck a fatal blow, the defender is not guilty of bloodshed; 3 but if it
Father Edward Fride
happens after sunrise, the defender is guilty of bloodshed.

Father Edward Fride, a Catholic priest, cited recent crime in the area in a letter to parishioners at Christ the King in Ann Arbor Michigan. During Mass last month, Father Fride announced a concealed pistol license class at the church.

The letter was titled "We're not in Mayberry Anymore, Toto," references to "The Andy Griffith Show" and the dog from "The Wizard of Oz." He wrote: "How to balance faith, reality, prudence, and trust is one of those critical questions that we struggle with all our lives."

Burden For Gun Owners: Gun Taxes To Pay For Police Cameras

Missouri is looking to fund its law enforcement force by
Brandon Ellington (D)
imposing a new tax on all retail sales of handguns and ammunition.

The new bills, HB75 and 76, sponsored by state rep Brandon Ellington (D-22), seeks to impose a 1 percent tax on every retail sale of handguns and ammunition.  The money collected would be deposited into the “Peace Officer Handgun and Ammunition Sales Tax Fund,” and used to purchase police cameras for personal to use while in the field.

“That’s something that I think is a necessity not only when we look at what happened in Ferguson, but when we look at inner-city interactions between law enforcement,” Rep. Brandon Ellington (D) told local media in December.

But not everyone is on board with Ellington’s bills; some are trying to fight back against it.

“Forcing law-abiding Missourians to pay an additional tax on firearm and ammunition purchases is unmerited,” read a release from the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action. “Gun owners and purchasers should not be responsible for funding these projects.”

“We will vigorously oppose this ill-considered proposal,” Larry Keane, general counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation told Guns.com Monday.

Newly Elected Michigan State Representatives Create Contract With Michigan Citizens

Much like the revolutionary Contract with America that the Republican Party produced in 1994 as a
promise if they won the majority of the U.S. Congress, newly elected Michigan State Representatives Todd Courser and Cindy Gamrat have issued promissory contract with the citizens of Michigan.  What made the Contract with America so revolutionary was its

provisions represented the view of many conservative Republicans on the issues of shrinking the size of government, promoting lower taxes and greater entrepreneurial activity, and both tort reform and welfare reform.  Todd and Cindy’s new contract hopes to promise the same. Here is their contract they are working to push through in Lansing:

The Contract for Liberty Project

We have felt called and compelled to put together this legislative framework to restore liberty. The Contract for Liberty Project is the beginning of a roadmap to restore our Founder’s intent for the proper role of government, free and independent states, individual liberty, and personal responsibility. We believe it is important to start our tenure as State Representatives being thoughtful and intentional in the steps that we take and the paths that we choose, making sure we carefully focus our time and attention with concern in advocating for the citizens of our districts and state. We feel impressed to faithfully execute the duties of our respected positions by advancing the ideas and commitments that we have made during our campaigns. We pray that our efforts impact hearts and minds in a meaningful way and hope that others will join us in the pursuit of the restoration of personal liberty, stronger states, and a nation worthy of the blessings bestowed upon it.

The Priceless Gift of Liberty…
As Americans, we have been blessed with an incredible and priceless gift called liberty, purchased at a great expense by courageous men and women willing to sacrifice their fortunes, their lives, and their most sacred honor. Our history records principled and dedicated leaders who stood against tremendous pressures and adversaries, to see freedom birthed and continued for our nation and for the world. America’s founding principles have stood resolute and tested through time as each generation has been entrusted with the privilege of stewarding this precious blessing of liberty to the next. Thus, each generation must rise to the occasion with the fortitude and dedication that an honor of this magnitude requires, and be willing to do what is necessary to understand the meaning of liberty and to defend it at all costs. Without this intentional care and attention, the flame of liberty will be vanquished and our children and grandchildren will not experience this amazing legacy and inheritance that so many generations have enjoyed.

Hearts Set Aflame for Liberty…
It is now up to us to renew and restore a culture of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It is time for principled, conservative leaders to stand firm in protecting America’s enduring national treasure of freedom. As God gives us the freedom to choose salvation through Christ or reject Him, our own government should allow us the self-determination of personal success or failure. God’s Providence, individual liberty, and personal responsibility make up America’s foundation, prepared and poured years ago. The national treasures that symbolize our Constitutional Republic, our Capitol and White House and all the other precious symbols, were crafted out of rock and metal but bound together by the blood, sweat, and tears of the sacrificial giving of our patriot leaders. All of these ideas flow from Divine inspiration of hearts set aflame for liberty by the moving of the power of the Holy Spirit. It is not the buildings, nor the documents, or even the people, but rather it is these ideas living in the hearts of men that enshrine personal liberty and freedom that keep the flame alive from generation to generation.

The Foundations of Liberty…
As government increases, individual liberty decreases. We must restore the Founders’ plan of limited and restrained intent to the power and scope of government and restore our government to its proper role as so eloquently espoused in our Founding Documents. We the people have lost our understanding of the proper role of government and the natural consequence of this loss leaves us with a government that has drifted from its moorings and guide wires etched in our Constitution. To get our state and our nation back on the right course to be a shining city on a hill for our children and grandchildren, we will first have to revive our understanding of our Founder’s intent to have first, a limited and restrained federal government and second, a government of general powers resting in the free and independent states. This understanding is essential to preserve our freedoms and liberty for the next generations. It is time to restore the strength of the states, and the intended limited role of our federal government.

With the responsibility given as State legislators, we are committed to be good stewards with the responsibility in advocacy for the God given and Constitutionally protected liberties of the people in our districts, state, and nation. We believe that it is important to articulate logical and reasoned arguments in our efforts to restore the Founders vision while holding to the clear inspiration of the Divine; believing that it will take the moving of the hearts and minds of men and women by the power of God and the Holy Spirit to restore to our nation and to the world liberty and freedom to all. It is with all of this in mind that we have developed “The Contract for Liberty” and in this spirit we have moved to submit legislation for drafting to restore a conservative vision based on the Founders’ understanding of government, society, individual liberty, and personal responsibility.

The Contract for Liberty

1. The Freedom to be Born
Our nation was founded on the precepts of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness; life is inherently precious and at the core of all liberty; to deny a person their life is a violation of the most basic of our fundamental freedoms and absolutely conflicts with both God’s Word and our rights as guaranteed under the Constitution. Life is a blessing from God; each one of us has been fearfully and wonderfully made. Our state can and should lead the way in declaring that each person has inherent value and worth and that we will protect the lives of the most innocent and vulnerable among us.
 - Legislation has been submitted for drafting

2. The Freedom to Defend Ourselves
Our Founders bought and paid for our right to keep and bear arms because they understood, through their experience, that in order for a people to remain free they must have the ability to defend themselves from the forces of an overreaching government. The 2nd Amendment was not only a protection against other individuals but rather was intended to place a check on the tyrannical power of an unfettered government. This freedom to defend ourselves and our families must apply to everyone, not just a privileged few. It is not the 2nd Amendment that keeps us free, but rather it is the people's understanding of the importance of the 2nd Amendment and their willingness to defend it.
 - Legislation has been submitted for drafting

 3. Health Care Freedom
There is no more fundamental right than to be free from government intrusion into the intimacy and privacy of our own bodies. The integrity of the patient/doctor relationships, along with our healthcare choices and decisions, should be free and protected from government intrusion. To allow the expansion of government to decide who receives care and who does not, in and of itself, will result in government determining who lives and dies. Health care and health insurance should be voluntary and people should have the freedom to choose their own health practitioner.
-Legislation has been submitted for drafting

4. The Freedom to Worship
The Pilgrims were not attempting to set in place a theocracy; they came to the New World to escape from government-imposed religious worship. Our Founders established a nation built on the freedom of religion not freedom from religion. They recognized and invited God’s blessings and providence on our nation. Worship should be free from governmental interference into the family, marriage, business, and how we raise our children. This is an absolutely fundamental right and individual liberty that is core to the very being of each person. Religious faith permeates everyday living and our right to worship should not be limited to the doors of our homes or churches, but rather our right to worship should be allowed to extend into every area of our lives and this right should not be infringed upon by intrusive government. Religious freedom is an extension of our freedom of speech. The Founders felt so strongly about the need to restrict the government from interference with religious freedom, that they proclaimed and guaranteed religious freedom inside the very First Amendment in our Constitution.
- Legislation is being considered for drafting

5. The Freedom from Regulatory Tyranny
When government is left unbridled or grows beyond its restraints and its totality overwhelms all Constitutional restrictions, its weight suffocates and obstructs and is a boot on the neck of our pursuit of happiness, leaving in its wake a destitute wasteland where once a proud, strong, Constitutional Republic stood. These laws, most times, are passed into perpetuity, leaving us with rules and regulations too numerous to be counted. Regulations do not limit government but rather its citizenry, creating obstacles that inhibit our pursuits of happiness and stem economic growth, preventing avenues for people to provide for their families.
As Ronald Reagan eloquently stated, “Man is not free unless government is limited. There is a clear cause and effect that is as neat and predictable as a law of physics: as government expands, liberty contracts.”
-Legislation has been submitted for drafting

6. The Freedom to Own Property
The Founders’ vision for property ownership in America was driven from their personal experience of having very little ownership or property rights under tyranny. Our Founders’ intent was that property owners would be first in ownership without a government with the ability to deprive owners of their property, but for limited circumstances. Property owners should be first in ownership, second to none, and their interest should not be subservient to government.
-Legislation is being considered for drafting

7. The Freedom from Economic Intrusion
The Founders believed that benevolent giving was giving from your own resources, not by the use of the power of government to take the resources from one man to give to them to another. It was the role of families, churches, and neighbors to provide assistance to those in need. True charity is giving from your own kitchen, not from your neighbor’s kitchen. The Founders never envisioned an entitlement society for individuals or corporations. Adam Smith referenced the free market as the invisible hand which creates unintended social benefits derived by an individual’s efforts. Our nation was not established with the intention of subsidizing half of our population by the hand of government. Our Founders did not envision economic favoritism through corporate entitlements that allow for politically connected groups and individuals to profit from governmental intrusion into the marketplace. Those bent on the power to pick winners and losers for political advantage are in direct contradiction to the proper role of government. Our Founders understood that free markets provide boundless opportunity for prosperity and equal opportunity for all to pursue success or experience failure through the merits of their efforts and ideas.
-Legislation has been submitted for drafting

8. The Freedom from Unjust Taxation
Government does not produce anything and can only give what it has first taken from someone else;thus the power to tax is the power to destroy. Oppressive taxation was the kindling on the fire for the Revolutionary War; the Stamp Act and the Boston TEA Party were pivotal to our Founders’ cause for freedom. Taxation should be blind, equal and as level as possible on each citizen. It should not be a tool to take away a man’s bread or income or the fruits of his labor nor should it be used to take from one person to give to another for political profit. Regressive, or unequal, taxation is legalized plunder which in any other instance would be called theft.
-Legislation has been submitted for drafting

9. Restoration of the Right to Privacy from Government Intrusions
The Founders experienced no limitations on the government’s ability to violate their private affairs. Federal government, in its awesome and newly created authority, needed to be limited in the scope of its power. The precepts of innocence until proven guilty, what can be searched and how and for what reasons are all well settled in law in this country, but today with new incredibly powerful electronic technology, governmental reach and surveillance into our private affairs is virtually unlimited. The assembly and accumulation of personal data threatens the Constitutional protections of the people who are not under investigation, and can result in a disturbing Orwellian-like relationship between citizens and their government.
-Legislation is being submitted for drafting

10. Free and Independent State
It is time to re-establish the rights of a free and independent state; states under our founding documents were to be free and sovereign from the intrusions of a federal government that is clearly operating outside the intended scope of its enumerated powers. Our Founders experienced the oppression of living under the most powerful governmental entity in the world and clearly recognized the danger of the centralization and accumulation of power. These men, divinely inspired, recognized that the right to self-determination came from the awesome and benevolent hand of God, not from government, and out of this recognition moved to create these United States of America. Our states, governed by their own Constitutions, gave limited power to a federal government and put in place checks and balances to protect against an overreach of this power. The concepts of nullification, the 9th and 10th Amendments, and how the U.S. Senators were appointed by the states are just a few examples of how the states themselves were meant to be a counterweight to federal imperialism. All of the protections included in our founding documents were meant to keep a government “of, by, and for the people”.

States lose their independence as they become dependent on federal government programs that bind the state with legacy costs in perpetuity, this results in the states becoming more and more an extension of the federal government, no longer free and independent. When 40% of our state’s budget is controlled by federal edicts, our state becomes an indebted slave to its master. This dependence prevents states from crafting their government in a unique fashion that fits their people’s needs and resources. Independent states create a dynamic framework for economic activity and allow for a localized definition of the relationship between government and society. The closer the government body is to its citizens, the more control and engagement the people have and this closeness allows for increased accountability and oversight.

Our federal government has refused to take the steps to restore its own fiscal soundness and is presently borrowing or printing half of the money it spends. In response, our state needs to preserve its fundamental soundness, by lessening its dependence on the federal government and the federal treasury, and by limiting and reducing the number of laws that create legacy costs in perpetuity.

Restoration of Liberty

Our Country was founded by men who looked at the very act of their rebellion and the beginning steps of our country as an act of their expression of faith; they were inspired with a vision of something the world had never seen before and went forward to birth a nation based on ideas that had never before been achieved. These ideas are individual liberty and freedom; to achieve this vision they took their very inspiration from the Divine Inerrant Word of God. They believed in a freedom and liberty far different than what many understand today. These men believed that protecting liberty and freedom, for all to use as they wished, was their God given duty and it was their act of worship and faith to carry out this responsibility. They aspired to these very ideas with an understanding that a true protector of liberty and freedom protects another man's right to use that liberty and freedom as he sees fit as long as his use does not interfere with another man's rights. Our whole story as a nation was a personal quest by men and women who sacrificed everything to birth into the world a never before seen vision of human dignity.

To many people these patriot leaders were beyond comprehension and in some circles they have been assigned almost deity status, albeit as a group they were intellectual giants, but in their lives they were simply plain honest humble men and women, some of whom were deeply flawed personally, but they chose to set aside their own self interests and failings and in doing so carried forward this impossible vision of beating the greatest superpower in the world and forming a new nation based on humanity having Divinely granted rights; it was their highest and most sacred sacrifice setting aside their own self interests to give us these national treasures of liberty and freedom. For our nation to continue to see this flame of liberty burning bright it will take that same very personal sacrifice.

We have before us a choice of liberty and servitude. Either we can renew our minds to the divinely inspired Constitutionally protected God given rights and act to preserve and protect our heritage of liberty and freedom, or we can watch as the last vestiges of our heritage disappears. We have an opportunity to rise above and reach for a standard fought for and purchased with full measure of devotion, by working to restore the greatness of our state and nation by relying on the Divine hand of God which is calling us to a greater purpose than ourselves.

It is time for servant leaders to put their political and personal motives aside and stand firm on the Biblical principles of self-determination to restore and protect these freedoms as laid out for all of us in our Constitution. We believe we can and will be the generation that remembers and restores liberty and freedom for the future of our nation. We are all here for such a time as this and each of us has been created for a unique and special purpose in our lives. We have living inside of us the same Divine Power and capacity for love of freedom, generosity, fortitude, and ingenuity that our Founders had burning in them. We, as Americans all have the inherent responsibility to do our part as stewards and guardians of this incredible blessing called freedom.

It is our prayer that the flame of liberty will be reignited in the hearts and minds of the people of our state and nation, and that history will record that in this moment of time, Americans renewed their spirit to stand for freedom. It is in this spirit that we humbly submit these precepts for your prayerful and thoughtful consideration.

Does The City of Detroit Have A Justified Homicide Problem?

On April 29th, on the steps of the Capital Building in
Rick Ector
addressing the attendees on the Capital steps.
Lansing, Michigan a Pro-2nd amendment rally was held .  One of the speakers was Detroit resident and owner of Rick's Firearm Economy of Detroit.   While at the pro-2nd amendment rally, Rick had encounter with a State Senator who represents a portion of Detroit.  This is what Rick had to say about his in encounter in his own words on his facebook page.

While I was in attendance at the "Second Amendment March" at the Michigan Capitol Building on this past Tuesday, I ran into a State Senator who represents Detroit residents. After we exchanged pleasantries, he immediately stated to me that we should talk about doing something about Detroit's "justified homicide problem."

Without hesitation, I countered by telling him that justified homicides are not a problem. I then asked him, "Why do you think that we need to focus on reducing justified homicides?" I may have caught him off guard because I did not get an immediate response.

I went on to tell him that a justified homicide only occurs when a person is faced with a reasonable and imminent threat of great bodily harm, rape, or death and that victim uses lawful self-defense which results in the death of the assailant. All shootings are investigated and vetted by the local police department and the results are submitted to the County Prosecutor to determine if criminal charges should be levied.

Detroit has already recorded roughly 12 justified homicides this year. Most of those cases involved a predator forcing himself into an occupied dwelling without permission, announcement, or notice. Under the "Castle Doctrine," the presumption - legally speaking - is that the invader of a home presents both a reasonable and imminent danger to the occupants. However, the presumption can be overcome but that burden rests with the Prosecutor.

Apparently, there are too many criminals being shot and killed while they are attacking citizens. No, I do not see justified homicides as a problem. Rather, it is a legal solution for selected victims to defend themselves and their families against danger. However, we definitely DO have a violent crime problem in Detroit and until that issue has been resolved will we see less citizens needing to defend their families.

Some anti-self-defense activists believe that home owners should not be allowed to shoot invaders. One such person suggested to me during a live airing of a local news show that invaded citizens should attempt to guide the attackers in prayer. Moreover, this same "activist" a few days later tried to chastise the local police chief because he referred to home invaders as predators. In my opinion, they are predators and a few other choice expletives that come immediately to my mind.

The bottom line is that the political agendas of some anti-gun people have become so desperate and amoral that they now seek to absolve violent criminals for their actions. If they had their way, home owners would face prosecution for nothing more than safe-guarding their families.

In any case, the aforementioned state senator made an overture to meet with me on the subject. If it happens, I will hear him out but I doubt he'll change my mind. Coddling invading predators will never make sense to me. I'll keep you updated.
